Advice between two vehicles

Hi guys!

I am currently a prospective owner of a Toyota GT86! I have found two that i am interested in and just need to hear which you guys feel is a better choice

Option 1

Model : 2012 2.0 Standard with TRD kit
Mileage : 41000km
Warranty : None
Service Plan : Expires June 2016
Price : R210000

Option 2

Model : 2012 2.0 Standard with TRD kit
Mileage : 14000km
Warranty : Balance of factory
Service Plan : Balance of factory
Price : R240000

After calling Toyota for guideline service prices i was shocked to hear that the 90000km service costs just over R9000.

I do plan on keeping the vehicle for at least 5 years so i would definitely reach that mileage. Is it advisable to extended the service plan which will cost me R16000 or just save up till 90000km approaches?

Any advise, or just general feedback will be much appreciated

Good call on getting an 86! Hope everything works out,

I have a 2012 model and the 3 year warranty expired lately (03/10/2015)
But I purchased a 3year extended warranty for R5k from Toyota

So maybe it's worth budgeting that extra R5k in when purchasing your vehicle ...its R5k for peice of mind ...

(maybe give Toyota a call and find out if you can add the Toyota care warranty on the 86 that has its warranty expired )

Also double check option 2 ...the warranty could also be expired.

With regards to extending the service plan...I know very few who did ...

Wonder what the major cost is in that R9k ? what parts are they replacing that cost / add up

With regards to option 1, because the warranty has expired (June 2015) and the owner did not extended before this date i unfortunately do not qualify for the extension. I am only able to purchase a pre-owned warranty at R7015 which doesn't cover all components. That sucks

Option 2 still has factory warranty which i think has been extended already. i definitely have to double check.

Iv called three separate dealerships and all have said the same. "Service costs are relatively affordable but the 90000km service is pricey" all quoted +-R9000 and gave me a whole long list of stuff from diff oil to sump plug.

the huge service cost at 90k is to replace spark plugs, using toyotas ridiculeous method of lifting engine, its been proved no engine lifting required if small tools used, just do it yourself or take it to a subaru specialist mechanic they are used to doing boxer engine spark plugs

I am sure there are more economical ways to do the 90k service, and those are one of them,

What is the estimate price you would pay for the parts / Spark plugs?

Wonder if its worth buying them yourself
(If its going to cost allot ....might as well import some fancy ones...not sure if that will make a difference in terms of different brands?),
I don't even know what spark plugs do, lol ...probably just spark your engine to ignite at when you start ...Need to google that shit

My guess is that the high cost is for replacing cambelts.
All Subarus have an expensive (approx R9k) service at 100000kms, and that's cambelts.

their cam chains, hopefully they last longer than 90k :-)
they are probably doingthe accessory drive belt but that not hard
