OEM BRZ fog light install issue

I bought the OEM fog light kit for my 2018 BRZ tS, since it doesn't come with fog lights:
https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru__/...4510CA150.html

installed the fog lights into place and there was a wiring harness taped up

I connected to that but I ran into an issue, the driverside dash doesn't have a cable that looks like this

as the instructions says

Instead somewhere higher up near the dash i found 1 with blue tape that looks like this:

guessing its the optional plug this and not what i'm looking for

does anyone have any clues as to which wires are used?
I got no idea it has to be something somewhere because there was definitely a wiring harness that I connected the lights to.

Any help is appreciated

Looking at the installation instructions, Number nine looks like it says the taped up plug is on the cable running to the trunk switch. It's pretty easy to remove the end cover to the dash. Are you looking there? Your images indicate you are looking in the footwell.

you didn't mention it, but did you take off the large panel that has the trunk switch in it? the only way i could see the harness is with that panel dropped down. otherwise it's taped too high up to be visible from down below the panel.

My only other suggestion is to note the colors of the wires where they connect to the light and try to find the same color wires under the dash.

Good sugguestion, I'm going to grab a multimeter and see if I can get some continuity going from one of the pins on the back of the fog light to the dash.

-edit-

green connector to the fog light has 2 wires

black and white/red

the black is the ground i tested with multimeter

and for those who wanted to see, this is what the driver side dash panel bit looks like, 2 cables for the trunk pop and dimmer but no cable tied in blue tape
