Looking for a straight forward answer.

Who has had a shop flush and change there automatic transmission fluid and know what they paid? Someone who knows a good actually cost it would be to do it all?

I am being told it would cost 275$ - 325$ by someone at a dealership now.

My dealership quoted about the same for a combined AT + diff oil change.

Australian dealership did the whole job for $260 AUD - not sure if this helps.

Changed it today with Redline D6 ATF (34k miles). Got to say, a bit of a pain in the ass doing on jack stands! Very noticeable difference in the way it shifts, upshifts at WOT feel less aggressive, more spongy if that make sense.

I caved in my oil pan with a rock so while I was getting is repaired I got a shop to do a flush using WS.

$225 AUD for flush/service incl new filter
$80 AUD for 8L of WS

They said the old fluid looked great. This is after doing around 15 25+min track sessions, with a $150 PWR ATF cooler. Never tracked without an ATF cooler.

Personally, I'd prefer to replenish some of the additives every 20k or so with a drain and fill rather than flush the whole lot at 80-100k.

I'm not sure why anyone would throw away take fluid that works perfectly, and replace it with fluid that's unknown. What issue are you trying to solve? What's worse is anyone who only drains the pan and replaces that fraction of the fluid with another brand, that's just asking for problems, especially on a platform that's 4 years old and has all this info already publicly available. The only problem is heat, and that's only solved with cooling.

@Wayno - can you post a link or more info about the PWR AT cooler? Thanks!

Not really trying to solve any particular problem, just a preventative measure. Just supercharged the car at 32K miles on the clock and I'm hammering it a bit more now. (not tracking or autoxing, no aftermarket AT cooler) I'm sure the fluid had plenty of life left in it although it was brown in color. Maybe the "experts" can look at fluid and say whether is good or bad?? I'm sure color is just an indication of age. I haven't read anything negative about the Redline D6 ATF in our cars but if you know something, please share. Trust me, If I start having issues with the transmission now, I'll flush it again and put WS back in. This is how we learn.

When I said "spongy" upshifts in my previous post, maybe I should have used a different word like softer or smoother or less aggressive. Not saying it was harsh before, just it's noticeably different with this new fluid.

MY DD is currently sitting on 51.5k miles. haven't changed out trans / diff yet. I don't know whether to switch it or not...

@BirdTRD that fluid still looks really good. I'm almost at 100k without a change yet. I'll post pics of my fluid when I get around to it soon

Thanks! Yeah, I figured it was, did it more for peace of mind after adding the extra bump up front. I can fix just about anything that might fail on this car myself....except for the tranny.

I just got a quote from my local Toyota dealership of $254.95 for ATF flush/replacement. A bit more than I was expecting it to cost... but I'll probably have it done next week.

ATF flush ended up being cheaper than the estimate I got over the phone. The total was $172.32 at my local Toyota dealership.

Labor...97.75
Parts...62.80
Misc....7.84
Tax.....3.93

(miscellaneous charge was for hazardous waste disposal)

Today is the day! I'll post a pic of my fluid color when I finish. My car just got new fluids in everything and I've been saving this hassle for the very end. I hope it goes well!
