The EJ257 still is @ 305 HP, 2.5 L. Except when the glass pistons shatter (ringland issue). The very reason I went with FA20T in the WRX.

The STI block is excellent, the internals, not to much.

A 2.0 L like in the CLA 45 would be sweet. Stock with forged internals, 375 BHP

Anybody have a shoehorn?

I made 710whp on a closed deck FA20 and I know it can hold more.... I stopped only because I used Pauter rods and Pauter said good to 700hp. Im debating on building another one with better rods just to see what happens....

Wow that's a lot of physics. Anyone here able to supply calculations? LOL

That's a ton on Nm/cylinder, bearings, crankshaft and more. OK so an F/A20 is no 2JZ but is that the highest anyone has claimed?

I have to wonder where the short-term/long-term undiscovered weaknesses are in the FA20 when you start pushing north of 700hp. I like watching others be guinea pigs while I patiently observe. lol

Being 52 yrs old and a veteran of muscle cars, bikes etc it sometimes strikes me as odd that a car that does 0-60 in 6 seconds, 14 second quarters, gets 25 miles per gallon and can go 100k plus is touted as being slow but "balanced". Possibly because the rolling menopause crate next to us isnt that far behind? Its all relative. I remember when 100 hp/litre naturally aspirated was considered exotic. I still have my eyes on another long tube header though. Never enough

Nvm hp. Where is peak torque, and is the curve sharp?

It seems like the engine block is the weakest point. Whenever someone talks about blowing an engine there's always a hole in the block.

Which appears to be result of a broken rod or shattered pieces of piston shooting through the cylinder wall.

Well I'm sure there is a reason why Subaru replaced so much thing in our engine in 1st real update/refresh? lol

I'm sure our engine will hold up maybe 200k but it's not Lexus or other older Subaru boxers.

Dont panic. Sometimes "improvements" are cost related. If I find a cheaper plating process im going to tout it as "friction reduction". I expect minor changes to valve train geometry and a few other things but the use of a manifold specific to the m/t puzzles me as does having 2 engine packages for a low volume niche product.
