As a fan of Mobile 1, yes, it's shit oil.
As an older dude before synthetic oil came around, penzoil was the worse oil on the market. Same level as a Fram filter.

Today's synthetic oil it's pretty much even in all brands.

So do you take your own bottle to a bar? Your steak to a steakhouse?

I'm not really sure what this is getting at

BYOB is a thing and a lot of non-chain restaurants allow you to bring game or other stuff for them to cook.

Bringing parts and fluid for install is just another thing you pay labor for, it's especially useful when you're getting other work done.

Aha my bad, I forgot to include her car. She drives a 2014 Corolla that calls for 0w-20. The owners manual says:

"Use Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.

Oil grade: ILSAC GF-5 multigrade engine oil

Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-20"

I'm fairly certain Pennzoil Ultra Platinum meets these requirements so I guess I have nothing to worry about as far as I'm concerned.

i would call them back to troll them and ask what specific certifications this 'toyota oil' has that the pennzoil doesn't-- anything that is better should be able to be verified to be better by independent standards.

Isn't Pennzoil's Ultra Platinum lineup supposed to be some of the best you can buy? It's what I've seen suggested on some forums but they date back some years ago. Things might have changed since for all I know. I only bought this oil as it was on sale, 5L jug for $30 here in Ontario.

I could swear this is a thing... BYOB? Besides, it's a fairly common practice for customers to bring their own parts to a shop and pay to have them install said parts. I don't see the issue?
