I don't watch Nascar anymore (probably been 2 decades now), but don't they use the Mustang and Camaro now? Kinda makes sense why Toyota would ditch the Camry and use a 2-door. It's ugly AF tho. haha

yeah, just like the Super GT, ELMS, ALMS, DTM, and every other race car out there, not much is OEM.

...and I bet the JGR Toyota drivers will all have actual supra's on their driveways.

I think the lack of a MT is going to hurt it more. If anything, nascar will bring the Supra to people who otherwise wouldn't have known about it (let's face it, most people who watch nascar probably aren't going to shop for a Toyota). But once they get to the dealership (or Toyota's website) and find out automatic only, a lot of those people will lose interest.

Put in a good dual clutch trans and I'd buy it. Manual would be great but not a deal breaker for me.

So its fair to say the Supra won't be an exclusive car, more along the lines of Mustang vs idk Cayman I guess.

Kinda like a Ford Crown Vic LTD.

It was "limited" to whoever wanted to walk into a dealership and buy one.

most likely, but either way AutoNews reported that they will make less than 10,000 units a year.

also if Toyota can only sell 18k $25,000 FRS a year, what makes you think they can reach Mustang numbers with a $50k-$60k Supra?

Because it's more like a mustang / Camaro in performance...... I don't know how many they expect to make / sell, but it's obvious if you make a fast car at a somewhat reasonable price they sell.

The frs/brz is not fast nor is it a bargain. It's a super niche vehicle.

Actually Toyota doesn't sell 18,000 FRS/86 units/yr.

6,800 in 2017
7,400 in 2016
10,500 in 2015

well the MKIV was faster and cheaper than a lot of the European competitors and it wasnt a hot seller.

from everything we're hearing the Supra won't be a bargain either.

True. Wouldn't you want less Supras on the road than twins? Would make it more rare.
