Hmm, I thought it sounded like a boxer when they gave it a rev from unveiling. I could be completely wrong, but it sounded pretty boxerish to me. Sounded good though.

That does look like him. It makes sense that he is at the unveiling of the successor of the AE86. I cant wait to see his review of it and his own personal one. There is no doubt he will get one and mod it.

Yup that's Tsuchiya-san. In his official website calendar it said that he was schedule to be there. Also Orido Manabu (aka Max Orido or apprentice of Tsuchiya) was there also (written in his personal Blog site). There were few more, but I can't remember right now.

Hehe, you don't have to explain who Orido is to me.

I plan on eating at his restaurant on my eventual trip to Japan.

So many questions now.
Does Tsuchiya have any influence on the making of this car?

I think thats what Toyota needs to do (if he is infact helping with the car). Advertise that Tsuchiya is personally overseeing certain factors to the car. That right there, sells it to me, no matter what the final product is. If Tsuchiya says this -is- the spiritual successor to the AE86, I'm sold.

Urrgghhh, you just KNOW there's going to be a review session in a Hot Version video before the car comes out, with Tsuchiya's impression on the car. The waiting will kill me.

I'm willing to bet they haven't (and won't) pop the hood of that car because whats under there isn't the true version of the engine thats going to come with the car. It currently probably has some variant of an already in-use EJ20. Maybe one of the boxer engine masters on this site could give a little insight. The engine rev in one of the videos should be able to tell someone, who's familiar with boxers (I'm not) if it is indeed a boxer underneath.

Of course, I hope I'm completely wrong on this, and we'll have engine-bay pictures by the time the TMS is over.
