Used this DIY just the other day for my Axleback install. Harbor Freight jack stands and a 2.5 ton Harbor Freight low profile jack. Worked like a charm.

After jacking the car up from that front jack point, I set it back down onto the jackstands. How far did your car settle between the pinch welds and the 2x4 coming off of the crossmember? Mine went 2-3 inches; I'm guessing thats from the load coming off of the rear suspension. Anyone else have this issue? I hope I'm not bending the chassi with the motor than far forward of the jack points.

Should be fine, if anything I'd say make sure its right in the center of the groove, I use their 3 tons and they have that little area that concave in for our jacking points.

Actually, any car that is front engine, rear wheel drive with sufficient ground clearance (i.e. no supercars) is just as easy, if not easier. You either lift on the front "jack point" or engine crossmember, or the rear diff/subframe.

I owned a S13 for many years and that car was even easier to lift.

Due to blatant carelessness, I did not place the jack correctly and managed to bend the edges of the side pinch weld point. The paint also chipped off and has exposed the bare metal.

What do you recommend to do to prevent rust? I know I can just get some touch up paint, but what would be the proper procedure to follow instead of just applying touch up paint?

I like to use a piece of soft wood when using the rear differential as a jack point as well. Suprised to see you didn't do that but then again I guess our cars are much lighter than an 02' mustang.

I know I'm a new face here, but I'm an old nasioc iwsti guy, and a computer engineer with a web server and a love for this car that I finally bought. Send me the source material, and I'll get a mirror up a sap with appropriate credit and links to GS.

Also, I am doing full fluid change this weekend and have yet to stick my floor jack or stands under this car...

Hey thank you very much we appreciate that! Instead we just hosted them on our current server, and we don't expect to have a problem with it again. I went through and fixed all the broken pictures on our DIYs as well

Wanted to report that I just used the Torin alu 3 ton hex base flat top jack stands, with 3 layers of 3/8" clear tubing sliced in half and stacked like 3 buns with the pinch weld being the hotdog. Can't even tell the car was in the air

I used the HF 68050 and had no clearance issues at all. However, that jack has the worst release valve I have used in a very long time...it will not be a permanent fixture in my garage for long I suspect.

Now to drive this car full of motul and royal purple... that OEM garbage was hideous in the shifting.
