True. But sometimes I want to just sit and relax for an hour and enjoy someone else's car adventures/shenanigans. I hate looking for new stuff to watch every 10 minutes, especially when I've seen pretty much everything you listed.

I guess I have to watch more jdm/drift/hotversion/bestmotoring, but they haven't been putting much stuff out since the split a few years back.

Hot version is awesome! I like how they have crazy modified cars sometimes, it's fun to see what you can do to a car as an enthusiast.

I love it... friends through hell and back

Those three have gone through so much together that I couldn't imagine May or Hammond staying without clarkson

2. You might not be watching the right channels. For motorsports, try Velocity Network http://www.velocity.com/ and NBCSN http://www.nbcsports.com/motor-sports for a start

3. Also, there is tons of terrific streaming content about cars across the net. Chris Harris on Cars by itself destroys Top Gear if you want to see and know more about cars, and less about the goofy exploits of the hosts. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8A...ep7VJKe1sxvHFg Also,

Lots more of great stuff to watch.
Except none of those shows are as fun to watch as Top Gear. If I really wanted to watch a show about cars sure ill go to those, and I even do. If I wanted to watch a show with a few friends that could make us laugh then Top Gear was the only choice. Even some of my friends that are not even remotely interested in cars loved Top Gear. There is no show like Top Gear and nothing will ever replace it unless the trio make another show.

Hmm... Never realized the show has been going on since 1977.

Just a matter of a rework and they'll carry on. I think the BBC is smart enough to produce a significant change, rather than try to do the same thing as before with different yet the same 'role' presenters like in Top Gear USA.

I highly doubt Top Gear will ever get back to it's glory. It was the most watched show for BBC 2 with over 5 million views each ep and the biggest attraction was the trio themselves.

Hard to say. The rework they did to create the new version probably wasn't anticipated to work how well it did, but the BBC took the chance to do it.

A surprise new take on it would be interesting.

Agreed. No doubt any new version of the show will take a slightly different turn, and perhaps a while to rebuild, but there is plenty of opportunity here. It's not like Clarkson was the only celebrity in the UK. BBC still owns the major tenants of the show like the Top Gear Test Track, the character known as the Stig, and "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car". Big shows have to reboot. How many Dr. Whos have there been? How many Star Trek casts? How many Batmans? The real stars here were always the cars, and the BBC paying to drive them hard and film them beautifully. The show must and will go on.

@WolfsFang hit the nail on the head. This is exactly why I watch Top Gear. It is very rare I watch a "real" car show without skipping huge parts of it. I've never hit fast forward on an episode of Top Gear, but I also don't go to them for a car review if I was making a purchase decision either.

Watch some of the first few seasons episodes where they tried to do real car reviews and you'll see why they got away from that. For example, Cpt. Slow used to do a "best deals" section for used cars. Interesting, but obviously very dated quickly. The bottom line is a "real" car show episode has no long term viability. By the end of that season, all the information is outdated and not worthy of syndication.
