Not a ton. The dowel sticks just far enough out of the crank face to kind of locate it and I stuck a punch through one of the bolt holes to keep it located so I know it didn't rotate too far. It's hard to say how much slop was remaining in it behind the flywheel.

She's all back together and started first crank. Many thanks to those that pitched in and put up with my stubbornness.
The clutch effort is insanely smooth with the new TOB and fresh grease. To the point that I'm having to relearn the bite point because I have very little feedback through the pedal to help me. It's an interesting feeling but I never drove the car when it was brand new. I bought it at 18k miles in 2020. I won't lie, I don't feel like working on the car again for at least 2 years. Unfortunately, I'll probably need to change the oil in about two weeks. I also probably should think about a serp belt, mine has a suspicious line in it along the full length that makes me think it might be getting tired. Thanks again everyone. |

If it's any relatable, I also replaced my tob until last night. When my transmission got stuck, I had a suspicion that it was a dowel pin corrosion on one side. I sprayed a penetrating oil into the hole, and it came out afterwards. Not entirely sure if it's really the penetrating oil that helped though. All in all I finished the job.
