500 miles is a pretty conservative clutch break-in period. Last clutch I installed took like 2000 miles to break in before it stopped slipping.

As a side note, someone should guinea pig the ORC 599D twin plate.

The ACT 6 puck doesn't like nearly 400wtq. Kinda slipped a bit, lol.

Like a Mustang GT feel. Only reason I say that is my bud has a 2015 Mustang GT

I need to dyno my car to see what kind of numbers I am actually making. Stock block, 6758 EFR, e85, 12psi. I installed this HDSS about 10 days ago and been babying it. I feel like I did the break in period correct and am well beyond the 500 mile mark. What gives? I thought this clutch was rated at 270wtq, I shouldn't be anywhere close to that.

Thoughts?
I have a gtx2867r and on 10.5 psi and made 322/273 to the wheels, you could easily beat that on 12psi on e85. You have it dyno tuned? Is it still slipping or did you just heat up the clutch really bad?

@Readytoxplod Wow, I didnt think I would be anywhere near 270. I have a dyno scheduled next week to verify. It isnt slipping at all and I have tried to recreate it to no avail. Maybe it wasnt broken in entirely. I bet I burned 25% of the friction material off haha.

Mine didn't start to slip til almost 400wtq. It's a beefy clutch, and it's still holding fine on the street once I backed it off down to 350-360wtq. Granted my clutch is still fresh, 300 miles on it. lol

300 miles is the break-in recommended by ACT, strictly city miles no highway. Honestly just driving to where you heat it up, then letting it cool and repeating for 200-400 miles is the best way to break in a clutch. You should be fine, like someone else said they lowball the tq ratings and a few clutch slips, hard launches or fucked up shifts shouldn't mess it up as long as you let it cool down completely so you don't glaze your disk.

Did you ever get that dyno? With your turbo setup @12psi on E85 and if your tuner pushed the timing a good bit you could definitely be over 270tq. Remember the clutch sees crank torque, before the transmission/drivetrain losses.

yeah I have a feeling you may be pushing the limits of that clutch with your setup on e85! Change clutches, I'll buy yours off you (: lol

I have the XTSS it's rated for 347 ft lbs. At any point I need more I'll go twin disc and never go puck. My old puck on/off feeling sucks and the clutches life span was extremely short. The XT model is the same as the HD but a heavier pressure plate.
