So my Fotodiox 32" slider and Giottos ball head with QR showed up over the weekend and the tracking # on my 10-22 EF lens says tomorrow!!!
Very exciting! I  new toys. I told the girlfriend I want the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 for my birthday in a few weeks but $800 exceeds any birthday gift budget by a pretty good margin. Last night I loaded Magic Lantern on my T3i and some of the features are really cool. I *might* be headed down to Thunderhill again for the 25 to shoot another documentary for couple Spec E46 cars. For the sake of my feet, I'm glad they're not running the whole 5+ mile track.

The 10-22 is wide enough for me.
Here's a quick shot, standing in the doorway, handheld at 3.5F, 10mm Now with the 50mm prime @ 3.5F, standing in the same place I can't wait to do some timelapse and long exposure stuff.

what do you mean by that? by natural i only mean that for me, a good photo accurately represents what i see through my eyes, obviously there are some exceptions to that depending on what you are doing, but my vision is always that of making you feel like you are there, like its real, and not some yellow trees woah contrast type of picture, i'm sure you know what i mean by that. example, this is just the first pic grabbed(posted from FB so dont mind the quality) if i remember correct, this was shot with a sigma 24-70 2.8 on a nikon D2X. anyway, pretty much a little crop, contrast adjustment and she's good to go. and dont mind the dust spot on the top right haha, these weren't for a job, just a couple pictures for an older friend of mine before he sold the car(they were used on ebay) same goes for this one, have to share, i love this picture(old psych center where i live) the lighting gives me a chub(this was a 17-70 2.8 sigma on a D2X) i guess technically speaking i cannot call myself a photographer anymore, since I only do it for my own enjoyment now, let me tell you its SOOO much better that way

Actually, overexposing about a half stop or even a full stop can be a good thing if you don't mind doing a little work in post. Provided you don't blow any highlights, overexposing can provide you with more raw data and dynamic range to tool around with. Personally, I don't prefer a lot of post side work, I rarely venture into Photoshop, Lightroom is sufficient for me.
When trying to brighten an underexpose image, you will invariably increase noise as you try to boost data that just isn't there. At least with a slightly overexposed shot, you're limiting available data instead. I read an article on this a while ago, but I can't seem to find it. Found this instead, and it more or less gets the idea across. http://www.tested.com/tech/photograp...hich-is-worse/ A couple shots from a few years ago: All of these were shot using the aforementioned +.5 / +1 stop of exposure and then brought down in Lightroom. |

I just saw this thread and thought I would post some of my practice shots. I just recently started getting more into photography. (pretty much when I got my BRZ a few weeks back)
Here are some pics I took so far. |

Every so often I get a good shot... I really want a new mid range lens, I've been using the Canon 17-85 for a while, but have been looking at a 24-70 or 24-105, and a 10-22 instead. Definitely happy with the 70-200 F4L, that won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-17-50mm-2-8-Aperture-Canon/dp/B003A6H27K"]Amazon.com : Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD Large Aperture Standard Zoom Lens for Canon Digital DSLR Camera : Camera Lenses : Camera & Photo[/ame] A while back, Sigma used to have a reputation for iffy quality control, but in the last decade or so, they've really stepped up their game. Now you rarely ever hear about people receiving bad lenses and even then, customer support replaces or fixes your lens pretty quickly. With the quality, performance, and value for money, I'm hardpressed to recommend any other lenses or brands. I just can't justify the cost of Canon L lenses or Nikon pro line lenses. |

Most of the specs are on the photo when you click on them. For the night shot I always look for one of those white lamps, in the parking lot. |
