Looks like I'm getting that used car after all...

Credit is worse than I thought, going to rebuild it over the next year or two.

Hope to get a 2014 next fall, when financing rates are good again.

Anyone selling their old car?

I got an '02 Honda Accord I don't want anymore. It runs real good but in the last rain storm a branch got taken out of one of my trees and cracked the windshield.

I'd give it to you cheap, I just want to be rid of it.

I'm selling my 2013 FR-S if you want. I'm in the middle of negotiating a deal on a 2014 Audi S5 so it will be available very soon. If you need financing we could do the deal through the Audi dealership so I get trade-in value and you get a 1.5 year old FR-S at a decent price.

Hey, thanks for the info. It's a really tempting offer but I don't think I'll be able to take it.

I doubt I'd be approved for financing even if the car was a really sweet deal. I had my credit looked into and I won't be in a better state for another 6 months to a year.

Good luck on the buy, hope you get a great deal at Audi.

EDIT: Current budget is around 6k, looking at a 2005-2006 RX-8 or an IS 300.

Get an IS 250 or 300, do not buy an RX-8. you want a car that you do not have to spend money on and can still enjoy

Is there something wrong with your Mazda? That bad credit isn't going to go away from buying/financing a car.

I don't suggest either... IS250 has carbon build up problem, and IS 300 on $6k you're looking at a 200,000+KM early 2000, might as well buy a Camry. Rx-8 you'll end up spending more than you want.

I would buy neither of those 3 cars for $6k. While it might be rejuvenating to buy another car because you got a new job, I would suggest to hold on to your Protege. Take care of it unti you're ready to put down some more money. Essentially, you'll be buying another tired/dying car and it'll turn into a money pit.

My friend drives his Protege in the track. Completely stock besides new brake pads, fluid and tires. If your Protege doesn't have an engine problem, I really suggest keeping that and focus on maintaining it. Plently of time to buy a nice car later on.

Thanks guys, main reason I'm getting a 2nd car is my wife uses the Protege and I hate taking the bus... XD

Currently, its not bad taking the bus but at the end of this month, my job's location is moving much further away. It's either suck up an hour commute on the bus each way or get a 2nd car for myself.

Thanks for the advice on the Rex-8, TBH I prefer the look of the 2009 and later but they are out of my price range. IS 300 is a bit pricey for its age, but I don't really care to have another FWD car.

IMO, just get something reliable and boring to get you through the winter. No point losing money by buying a fun car then selling for less when you want to get the FR-S.

IS are too expensive for a reasonable vintage. There are other options for winter time - get a truck. I just sold my 8 y.o. XTerra for a little over less than 7000, and it will probably serve a new owner for 2-3 more years. Having a truck in the family helps a lot in many cases.

A little over less than 7000? I confused.

Less than 7000.

This is what happens when you edit post on tiny screen of cell phone.

Anyway, living in US you have to have a truck as one of cars in family.
