Unfortunately, yes. I don't think there's any way around it short of getting a CAI. If you go with a smaller hose connector then it won't touch, but just barely clearing.

I took some data set I got at Thunderhill with 5 mile configuration, since it's the same track + configuration, it's more comparable in terms of environment and data sets. It's not perfect, but you can still see the difference between no oil cooler and with (air cooled) oil cooler.
The water temp stayed about the same, despite having the oil cooler mounted in front of it. The oil temp, however, is a huge 36*F drop (on average) even with hotter weather/air temp. |
