Noise at the Driver's side of the hood.

Hi guys,

As I was accelerating on 5th gear, around 70-85mph, I was hearing a hearing a weird noise at the driver's side of the hood. It was like a deep rattling noise (tbh, I can't really describe it), and only happening at those range. Anyone have an idea what it could be? And should I worry?

Next time it happens, keep the car steady to hold the sound. Then just tap the clutch pedal ever so lightly so it jiggles.

Does the sound change?

First off ..... ..... that's for speeding.......

Maybe you have a front wheel slightly out of balance and it's vibrating the hood when it gets lifted at higher speeds. I'd suggest you check the rubber bumpers that cushion the hood when it's closed, to see if they are still in place. Then check the bolts that attach the hood to the hinges, make sure they are tight.

Come back.

Bad section of road. Try to hit the same spot again.

It was on different lanes, at different locations. But in one trip.

I'll quote for emphasis. My car is remarkably free of creaks and groans. The only truly disturbing sound it has ever made was so bad I thought it was the death of the engine.

Turned out to be the clutch master return spring rattling at a specific frequency; at about where you describe. Still does it occasionally when it's hot.

Lmao. It was a straight downhill on ramp. I wanted to have some fun, so I floored it.

Well, Exrald, I figure you were blasting out of Walnut Creek and merging onto 24, heading west. So, I reckon you could consider that an on ramp .....

Now about that sound you heard, I have a theory ........ comes from back-in-the-day, when I lived in Danville and rushed to work in Richmond.

"Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said, "Slow down! I see spots!
The lines on the road just look like dots."
Took a corner; sideswiped a truck,
Crossed my fingers just for luck.
My fenders was clickin' the guardrail posts.
The guy beside me was white as a ghost."

So, just don't hit the guardrail posts .....
