autox or autox school?

So I'm planning on autox'ing the BRZ this sunday and there are two things I can do:

-normal autox
-autox school

This is will be my 3rd autox and I'm not sure if a school would be worth it. This is my first autox in a RWD car though.

What do you think I should do and is the autox school worth it? Any suggestions or pointers would be gladly appreciated. Thanks!

Schools are always worth it with good instructors. I've been doing this for over 5 years and there's always stuff I'm learning. It's amazing the bad habits someone in your passenger seat can see.

Schools always provide more seat time. Even if you don't get a very good instructor... +1 for school.... though I guess it depends on which site the school is at versus the event. If there is a big difference in site quality, I'd go for the better site.

Plus 1 for the school. I took the advanced class this year in my FWD car before I decided to get the frs. And I got 20 plus runs in that day. Also it was raining so that was a tun of fun to learn in.

There is nothing better than learning in the rain.

Unless you won your last 2, go to school. You might also look in to a HPDE school run on a real track. I have not been tempted to autoX since my 1st track day. A typical HPDE school will run 4 ~ 20min. sessions per day for each run group. After your solo approved, full, 1/2, or 1/4 open track day sessions are available where you can drive as much as you or your car can stand. I haven't found a better local seat time value than 4 hours of open track @ the Texas World Speedway 2.9 mile road course for $150.00. If AutoX is your thing, great, but you owe it to yourself to get on track @ least once. Warning: it can be highly addictive.

Unless you're competing for trophies, more runs = more runs.

Plus the cost of track insurance if you can't afford to write off your car.

School will be invaluable. However, remember that seat time is the best teacher sometimes. It's just like that old addage... "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice!"

Take the Auto-X school for sure...much better deal where you will actually learn a lot more than you possibly ever could at a normal autocross event! If you really get into autocrossing and ever have a chance to attend an Evolution Autocross School take that as well...highly recommended if there is ever a Phase I or Phase II course scheduled to take place in your area!

Thank for all the input everyone!

Unfortunately, I twisted my right ankle playing soccer yesterday so I won't be able to make the autocross this sunday.

I did sign up for an Evolution Phase I course later in July that I am looking forward to though. Thanks again!
