Noting that BEING it's in the image of the Griffon, it's not going to have some power bump (Griffon doesn't haven't F/I to give it some power bump). All the post before me collectively were dragging on the car because it wasn't boosted. I said the Griffon ran a low 1min without the power to say power isn't everything.

You apparently couldn't get that out of what I wrote, since I had to spell it out for you.
One correction, it ran SUB-one minute, not low one minute...

i believe they were a while ago, but the 14R60's where limited anb basicallly you had the enter...to win... so you could put down a deposit.

if memory serves right it was this big convoluted process which basically people were better off buying the griffon street/track editions.

You're not making any sense. TRD (or rather a subsidiary that built them) put 100 complete packages up for sale via a lottery. From all those that applied 100 were chosen to buy the car at the bargain price (given the total cost of all the upgrades far outweighed the purchase price).

There is no Griffon street/track edition.

The 14R60 is a track car based on work carried out on the Griffon.

There was supposed to be a street edition based on the Griffon but I have not heard or seen anything.

Non-14R60 Track edition on the left, Street Edition on the right.

As far as I knew they were both on sale.

Those are optional parts which can be ordered at time of purchase. All the parts on the Track and Street version can be had by anyone with enough money and are not specific to any trim package.

Dealerships in Japan work more like Tesla than they do Toyota here in the states.

That picture shows concepts from August last year and it seems that the only thing to come out of it was the 100 14R60s.

None of the new parts (for either the track or street) are for sale on the TRD website.

Yes the parts are available. No, no one can buy them unless they own a 14r60. On a side note i ran into one of these today. Pretty sick looking in person.

That would make sense. If they are used for the track I'm sure they will need to repair the odd panel here and there.

Did you manage to speak to the owner of the 14R60? Would love to know some performance figures, etc.

I wish, it was at a 7hr endurance race at at fuji and i could never catch him at his car. he had on dunlop zIIs that had definitely been tracked recently. would have loved to see how that car performed on a track as high speed as fuji.
EDIT: just to be clear, he was not participating.

http://response.jp/article/2015/02/12/244162.html

Price MT vehicles ¥ 3,767,237, AT vehicles ¥ 3,849,710.

The price for 14R is actually not bad with forged wheels, 4 pot brakes and nice body kit.
