Going to break top speed world record.

Im aware that there have been some videos posted and a few threads as well on this matter but I was wondering if there were any updates on the top speed record for the 86 platform.

I have already seen a video of a car doing 151 but that was a N/A car and I am not.

I plan on breaking this record on a closed course in the near future and Im just asking for information on the current top speed. Please do not respond if you want to tell me the dangers of driving at high speeds.

I don't understand why people want to go for high speed in these cars. Rather than breaking the world record for top speed, break the record for longest sliding or something.

The Camaro holds the record for longest drift currently. If I recall correctly.

And I dont understand how the only responses Ive gotten are the responses that I clearly stated that I did not want in my original post.

But to answer your question. Its because it hasnt been done. You can all claim to have bought the car because its superior handling characteristics, or because you are "true" 86 fans, but lets face it, very few of the people on this forum would have bought an 86 back in 86 (if you were old enough to do so). You probably bought the car because you liked the way it looked, or because you enjoyed the idea of a fun and relatively inexpensive sports car that finally had great styling. I get it. I however bought the car because it was a new exciting platform to make power. My original intentions were that if I could not make power with the FA20 then I would find a power plant that would. However, so far the turbo has given me the power that I needed. Now I want to see what it can do. So as per my original request, no more lecturing on what this car was "built" for, or how dangerous or silly it is to want to go fast. Deep down everyone on here wants to shut down the Z owners, or the domestic car owners by saying more than just..."lets take it to a race track and see who wins". You guys dont drive on racetracks to work, but you do drive a car that looks fast...might as well have one that is fast as well.

Well, actually my girlfriend was talking about going for a next-gen Z since it's supposed to harken back to the 240's styling, which I love. Personally I'm having too much fun driving to give two shits about what anyone else is doing in their car. If they want to take it to a race track; sure, why not, but I'll make sure it's one with plenty of tight corners and not a lot of straights.

Some people who bought the car do drive the curvy roads to work, or they go out of their way to do so. It is a fast car, it's just not fast in a straight line, and the message that you're missing is that if you wanted to buy a car that went fast in a straight line as it's primary purpose, you bought the wrong car. Why would you go for a 4 cylinder boxer instead of something with a V8/Turbo V6/etc.?

Generally it's the jabronis trying to go fast in a straight line that wreck anyway.

Only a few posts deep and this thread is already full of FAIL!

Seriously, don't try and dictate to people on the internet what and what not to say in a thread because it only prompts people to do just that! "Don't look down!" sound familiar?

I wish you the best on your top speed endeavors. Be sure to not rely on your speedo because the faster you go, the less accurate it gets. GPS is your friend and will keep the B.S. flag waivers at bay.

Be sure to post full setup and video!

This is true and to answer that I say why not have both. I'm not talking about a 200mph car here and I'm not talking about dragging the car nor am I talking about destroying its handling characteristics.
I actually came from a 600 whp 03 cobra and I also currently own a 66mm turbo MKIV Supra and I want this to be a car that is respected just as those are. And in my list of kills in the BRZ you will find a Z car and a Mustang GT with intake, exhaust and 3.73 gears.
But besides all that, the modifications ive done have only added to its handling(wider and better tires, adjustable coilovers, roll cage) and now I have the power to accelerate out of a turn even faster. Doesn't stop me from wanting to see what she can do in a straight line.
