There is a little back seat too..

Porbably some said that already, but I think you should sell/trade-in the sedan, buy an FRS, keep the minivan and the FJ.

It seems that you have genuine love for the outdoor lifestyle. There will be no week-long rallys in the coming years, but porbably can come up with an arrangement with your wife, babysitters, gramma etc, for an occasional weekend or one-day at your favorite fishing hole. Then your FJ will be there for you.

And of things that you use the sedan for, there is probably very little that the minimvan or an FRS cannot do.

Ha!

Not a seat that is shaped to allow human beings that currently possess legs!

When I drive, the front seat literally touches the "back seat" ad some call it!

5 pages and no decision yet? Do it.

I am 37, have owned 2 ae86 a slew of family sedans with twin 7 year olds.

Finally had the chance to get an frs after wanting since rumors on club4ag. Got my 2016 in feb and love it! Truly is a modern 86 for a family man. Kids fit in the back sitting indian style. I have taken the whole family for 1 hour drives from san diego to temecula but thats about their limit. Cramped but not impossible. The ride is firm but not bone jarring. I even put a set of powered by max coilovers on it with the swift springs and on full soft its not much different than stock.

Bottom line is, if this isnt your primary car, and you can afford it, DO IT!!!!!

Lol, true, except when they're just little enough they aren't legally allowed to sit in the front!

I was just messing around anyway!

Nobody needs a minivan unless you have 5+ kids. Get. Rid. Of. It. And reclaim your manhood with a sports car.

Or if you can't convince the wife, maybe settle on a WRX or a hot hatch.

What's wrong with minivans? Sedans are the more illogical and compromised choice in every area dealing with only having 2 kids. And even if no kids, with a minivan you could get a washer and dryer in the back...or a fridge. What sedan could do that. If they came in manual with performace options it would be really nice....

Minivan would be the first thing I'd rock if I were starting a family, its an all around great hauler that has no equal.

You can also make them haul butt on track...

That exhaust sound too...better than the Twins...

Oh and you know what 'sedan' most feels like an FR-S. It's way out in left field, but the Juke NISMO R...if I couldn't have the FR-S and had to have a sedan, it would be the Juke NISMO R...because it feels better than that floaty sailboat of a sportscar called the ND MX-5 Club Spec. Seriously, the Juke NISMO R is uncannily like an FR-S in driving feel - it's crazy!

I hated the idea of a minivan when we had to buy one for my kids and my fiancee's kids. My life was over.

I bought a new loaded Honda Odyssey. That van was great to drive! Roomy, comfortable, and handled like a sedan (although not a performance sedan). Loved it.

I scrolled through most of the responses to get a quick feel for the topic. I thought I was leaning one way, but I've changed my mind. Originally I was going to say sell the sedan because it seems redundant, the minivan can serve as a daily, especially if you really want the FR-S and your FJ. That's what I was going to say, but I have an alternative.

You mentioned in your first post that the FJ was built with a specific purpose, a purpose it can no longer serve. You also said it was good for winter, but any of the three remaining cars can winter just fine with proper tires, even the FR-S. Clearly, sentimental value is all it has. That's more important than anything else for most people, I get it, but still. It's essentially useless. Going off that, and nothing else, I say sell the FJ and get the FR-S.

Down the line if you really miss your old truck, buy another. Eventually you might not like the FR-S, eventually you might not need the minivan. You might have considerably more freedom in five years. Buy a ratty FJ and fix it up, make it even more perfect. Take your kid on those trips when they're old enough.

Beware sometimes FRS could be difficult to get in and out of especially when parked on a hill. I'm 30 yrs young but my back hurts just getting out of the car.

Its still a great car to drive around though.
