7/10 on the comfortable scale. If you're a smaller guy the seats will hug you to sleep on those lonely nights, but if you're a bigger guy they can get a little annoying.

Check your owners manual cuz believe it or not there is a section called "Napping in your car". NO Joke these guys thought of everything!
Just don't expect to curl up in the back seat.

From Manual:
When taking a nap in the vehicle

Always turn the engine off. Otherwise, you may accidentally move the select

lever or shift lever, or depress the accelerator pedal, this could cause an

accident or fire due to engine overheating. Additionally, if the vehicle is

parked in a poorly ventilated area, exhaust gases may collect and enter the

vehicle, leading to death or a serious health hazard.

I'm a pretty small dude and I find the seats to be quite comfortable during the occasional lunch break nap.

Yeah - I've been doing this since my '87 Celica - anything with fold-down rear seats. It's usually not quite as simple as the drawing suggests because the rear seat back is not typically flush with the trunk floor in a sports car, but it works.

I probably sleep in my car more than you might imagine, because my work commute is terrible and since I get all the amenities at work (e.g. shower, free food, laundry etc...), I don't mind it as much. I'm also single and don't rent, so I don't have any major commitments. Maybe at least 3-4 times during the work week. FYI I am not homeless hahaha, I live with my parents to save some money..

Here's what I have found useful and here's how to make your sleep more comfortable should you decide to sleep in your car more often. Please note this isn't a post on how to live in your car, just sleeping.

1) I bought a $30 workout mat from Target. It's well padded and foamy and it does a good job flattening out that weird dip when you fold the seats down. I almost don't even feel that dip in my back now that I have this workout mat. Invest in a high quality one for a better night's sleep! I used to use a simple yoga mat but that was really painful.

2) I use 2 shoeboxes (one bigger than the other) to fill in the gap between the seats. One box is for clean clothes, underwear, socks etc... The other one is for dirty clothes (I also use a zip bag so the stench doesn't come out).

3) I have 3 pillows. 2 to further fill the gap and another that I actually sleep on. At this point the positioning is suuuuper comfortable.

4) Use the sun visors to your advantage. Pull them to the side and hang dark clothes so nobody can see inside your car in addition to having the windshield shade in the front. I don't usually do this because I park in an underground lot.

5) Since you're sleeping on one side of the car, you have a lot more space on the other side for stuff! I tend to put another box of hygiene-related things here, like a shaver, deodorant, cologne, extra contacts solution/contacts, toothpaste etc...

6) Passenger seat I have coats and extra pairs of shoes. If my shoes are stinky, I tend to leave them underneath my car overnight.

7) Leave your window cracked open a bit. For obvious reasons.

EXTRA: If you're sleeping for a night, you don't need all this fancy stuff, but it's always nice to have car fresheners You know, in case your bodily functions start acting up all night.

Additional PSA:

In an event where you must get out of your car quickly (e.g. emergency, fire alarm in the parking lot etc...), it's better to sleep on the passenger side of the car. When sleeping at night, it's a good idea to lock the driver's seat forward as well. This leaves an open space for you to easily step into and then out of the car should you need to escape.

If you're acrobatic enough, you can use your feet to pull the truck open, pull yourself out using the rear and slide out that way.

I've taken a short nap in the car and it was comfortable enough (driver seat reclined as far back as it would go), but I definitely don't want to spend a night in it. If this is something you'll be doing often, I'd consider a hatch or wagon. Fold the seats down, lay out a sleeping bag/blankets and it can be quite comfy.
