Has anyone experienced any sloppiness in the shifter? I have probably 10,000km on mine now and it doesn't seem to be as precise as it use to be.

1st and Foremost, AMAZING DIY and it is the sole reason I purchased it!!!
Preface: I am no mechanic or even a grease monkey, no offense intended. In fact, I am a wannabe grease monkey. I envy your skills!! 1st Point: Please include some of the pics posted of the shift lever boot and removal process in the original post, as I also tore mine and did not read the 9 pages of this Thread before proceeding and did not understand the shape of the boot nor the proper way to remove. (I removed from the trans side to the shifter and then even pulled it through the shifter mount hole) 2nd Point: Kartboy, are you selling the shift lever boots? I could not find on your site. 3rd Point: Did I mention the Amazing DIY and Product! Tip#1: GET IT! Tip #2: Use interior panel removal tools for both removal and re-install of the boot. (much less harsh than a screw driver or other pointy/sharp objects or even needle nose pliers) Very inexpensive, search www.amazon.com Best Regards, -Ooops (PDX) (No special skills but, a ton of god given common sense, which seems to be in such decline now days?) great DIY, I just finished installing mine. The shift and feel is the best thing I've ever had.
I think part of that reason being as soon as I removed that lower shift boot, there was no pin holding the shaft firmly to the shifter. I guess it was causing some sloppiness/notchiness, because now with a pin i picked up at pep boys, the shifter feels 10x better than ever. |
