Best battery for daily driver

Hey just wonder what the best battery out there would be with more than the stock 390 CCA. I'm having issues with the car going completely dead on start up so I have to reset the battery for it to work so I'm going to get a new alarm in and also a new higher powered battery since I have a bunch of led aftermarket work done to the car ....he dealership disconnected the security box when they put in my alarm and auto start so that could also be the issue ... Best battery with proper fitment and works well in cold weather

The stock Panasonic battery is 390CCA so I can go up to 500? And also what size do I need or other specs before getting one

I went with Optima Batteries YellowTop Dual-Purpose Battery, Group 75/25, 620 CCA
Model # D35 is the exact fit/polarity for our cars. It's normally around $230 but I bought it when I had a coupon for around $180.

my Panasonic does not crank strong when its cold out it seems like a junk battery. I have a dash cam wired up with a power magic but I have disconnected it for the winter as I do not trust it.

Be careful. Optima has stated Amazon is not an authorized seller and will not warranty them. You'll pay more at Autozone but they will honor the 3 year warranty and replace it on the spot.

That's the correct battery. Mount it how you'd mount the battery you have in the car.

Precisely the reason I switched mine out. I also have a cam with a power magic and the repeated discharging to 12V eventually killed the Panasonic to the point where it was needing to be jumped.

Loosen the negative battery terminal connector, loosen the positive battery terminal connector, loosen the battery tie down, lift out the battery.

Take the new battery's top cover piece and attach it to the bottom (snaps right on to give it more height to match the stock size), put the battery in place, tighten the battery tie down, attach the positive battery terminal connector and tighten it, attach the negative battery terminal connector and tighten it.

Start the car.

With exception to the Optima cover piece attached to the bottom, these instructions apply to any battery you get. Also keep in mind that any Group 35 battery will physically fit, so long as the negative is on the left and the positive is on the right. If you get the polarity reversed, the existing cables won't reach without some serious hacking.

Keep in mind Optimas aren't what they used to be. They used to be made in the USA, now they're made in Mexico and their quality has gone way down.


LED stuff on the car isn't going to do much. LED's consume a fraction of a normal bulb, if anything you've lessened the load on the electrical system.

A new Battery is fine but as humfrs said check and see what is draining the battery down or the same thing will happen to the new Battery

Still better than the stock Panasonic and most other crap on the market. There's a lot to be said for a 36 month replacement warranty.

Another battery to consider would be the Odyssey or DieHard Platinum (re-branded Odyssey).
