Don't sweat it.
The people who compare it to a minivan on one metric (typically 0-60), and then conclude that "since the 86 is slower than/comparable to a minivan in 0-60 times, therefore it is garbage" just don't get it.

My analogy is the guy who says Japanese cuisine sucks, because he can get stuffed with a burger and fries for less money. You could try to explain it to him (and it is almost invariably a "him") but it's like drag racing a minivan: futile.

Nah, I used the zero to 60 site Tcoat linked - just to keep it apples-to-apples(ish)...

Read more of the thread. You will find many instances where people were shot down for their stories.
Many of the street racing posts were also removed by the Mods.
It is a simple rule that was applied for a reason.
"Unfairly persecuted" is probably an overly dramatic way to put it, but sure lol. The first response to my post was "Why are you posting about participating in street racing?" which frankly I think is a pretty stupid question to ask in a thread specifically about being challenged to races. Sure, it violates the "No Street Racing" rule. No excuses there. And you say that mods have removed other posts, and I have no reason to not believe that. But there are tons of posts with people talking about street racing that haven't been removed. Because of all those other posts, it seemed pretty clear to me it wasn't a very strict or enforced rule, and then to be asked "Why are you posting about participating in street racing?" as if it was unthinkable that I would do such a thing just struck me as ridiculous. And then you and others doubled down on the attitude and the "STREET RACING KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE" spiel and here we are.

If the mods see fit to remove my post or ban me, that's their prerogative. And I did violate the rules, so I can understand. But the way you, Clipdat, and FRSBRZGT86FAN have responded to my post is one of the most holier-than-thou, white-knighty, goody-goody two shoes type of things I've ever seen.

Youre right, you didn't say unprompted. So, sorry about that. But regarding it being used against me, since my post on here isn't really direct evidence of anything, I fail to see how they would use it if they already caught me in the act.

Not from Philly and not really in the "street racing scene" or whatever so must've flown over the radar.

Note that modern automatics can (and will) downshift very quickly when the driver floors it (which is all the van driver needs to do - while we may have to modulate clutch slip, find the optimal revs before dumping the clutch, etc.).

In any case, the moral of the story is, don't race a van - because what's the point?
Unless you are on the Nurburgring and the van is driven by Sabine Schmitz ... in which case you still shouldn't because you are probably going to lose to a girl in a van.

If someone wants to grab a lane then I'm game. Clearly you have to watch your surroundings and what road or street you are blasting down. It's a judgement call.. just like owning a gun, or choosing to hit your kids or not, Which political agenda your with etc etc

Example if you want to mess around with your car, do it at 12am-4am with no one around instead of evening traffic. Some truth in this though.. A lot of people have never gone WOT with a car for 4 gears flat out. Sometimes that one instant they do, they aren't use to the car behavior, speed or maybe the dam road they are on and it's too late. They weren't "expecting that"... Track or street you learn fast and if you don't it's already too late. Racing is like this.. you either have guys that do it almost every time the car comes out or almost never. This will never change with car guys.. some street race and some don't and you are either are into in some type of way or not at all.

Some of you make it seem like if you lay a pass on the street you are a serial killer Jesus.. More deaths come in many other ways including a hell of a lot more drunk drivers then racing. If you don't want to hear about racing stories then keep your up tight self out of the dam thread. Funny, I see so many folks letting friends leave a house with 2-4 drinks in them but if you mention some street racing all hell breaks loose lol..

Like mentioned previously at some point almost 99% of every car guy has let it loose more then once. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do by any means.. It happens and you can be apart of it or separate your self entirely.

Yep some people are stupid, think nothing can go wrong and the streets belong to to them but since people can die other ways it is ok.
Love the mentality that if you don't like it then ignore it.
I repeat that letting it loose is not the same as racing. Racing on the street is the subject not having fun with your car. You wantta race hit the track and don't risk the lives of others. Is this such a difficult concept for some minds to grasp?

The pacifica is listed at zero to 60 mph at 7.8

They all do high to mid 15s in the quarter mile, and they have a manual shift mode capability and some oddly powerful engines

Those performance numbers are on par with the twins...

Either way its down to a driver, if some soccer mom or dad knows how to turn traction control off, go to manual mode and launch there minivan, they could very well beat a stock twin to 60 or tie it. But they will surely sputter out and fall back after 60, and if there is a curve or bend in the road oncoming, then they won't be able to keep speed for sure
The whole van vs GT86 thing comes from this video
