You've got to be kidding me. You must have a really good set of tires! Any time I forget to turn off the TC/Stab the damn thing goes off and the engine "stalls" just when I am expecting (counting on) more power. I think its more unsafe to drive around with it on than it is with it off. Except in the rain of course.
But then I have the Phantom ESC and it makes all the difference.

Agree that the nannies can be dangerous in some situations. For "normal" driving on the street, I very rarely trigger a nanny. Pedal dance for "fun".

Man, you have got that right. I can understand why Floridians would want a more powerful car and not a light and nimble car. Driving here amounts to racing from one stop light to the next or cruising 80MPH on the interstates and turnpikes while watching for the occasional LEO. There are almost no interesting roads where the FR-S can shine until you get to northern Georgia and the Smokey Mountains. My MR-S misses the southern Ohio roads badly.

To the OP: Buy a different car.

Oh man.

I hear you.

Occasionally on nice days I forget to turn the TC/SC off. Then when I go into a sweet corner or a roundabout expecting a satisfying little tire chirp and a roll-on-throttle corner exit...uh...falls flat on it's face. It's just SUCH a disappointing feeling.

I don't really know about it being "unsafe" exactly, but it sure feels disappointing. Like when you've saved that last bit of desert to go with that last sip of espresso...and someone's child wanders past your table and sneezes on your plate. F U C K

MPSS. Are you talking about acceleration? The car has none. And anyone that doesn't peel off the crappy OE tires after the first week of ownership should have the car taken away from him.

Hey! I happen to like the stock tires. Come and try to take my car away, I dare you.

1. How cumbersome are the driving aids? Do they turn come back on once you turn them off, more thinking of the TCS or ESP or ACT systems. I want a fun car to drive but having a computer inhibit me from doing that will be a big issue.

2. If you flash or chip the car will it permanently turn off the driving aids?

3. How well do these cars hold boost or mods in general.

Thank you for the answer!!!!

1) Merely pressing the traction control button once will result in the system reactivating after getting up to speed, but, hold down for 3 seconds will disable all of the nannies and don't reactivate until you turn the car off and then on again.

2) Instead of flashing, pulling the ABS fuse is most effective for permanently disabling the aids, but, it will also disable the ABS. It is up to you, but, for 3 seconds of my life, I will press a button.

3) Oh boy, browse the site a little. There is a complete section for forced induction:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78

And even if you don't want FI and just want to start changing headers and flashing, there are definitely options.

After reading everyone's opinion I don't think this is the right car for me. Thank you for your time!

And thank you for realizing it before you got one and hated it. Loads of cars out there that may be more what you are after.
