Question for the wheel/tire gurus

I am contemplating a wheel purchase before spring so I don't have to mount my OEM wheels just to take them off again.

My question: I am looking at a 17x8 wheel.

Stock wheels are 17X7.

Would the OEM Primacy tires fit on the new wheels, or is there going to be an unfeasible amount of stretch/other problems?

Sorry for the potentially stupid question; I'm okay with wheel sizing and offset but nearly clueless when it comes to tire sizing.

Thanks for any help.

If you are buying an extra set, why put Primacys on? Are you going to run Winter tires next year?

I have winter tires with steel wheels already, still mounted on the car. I don't want to put my OEM wheels/tires on only to have to take them off again to remove tires and mount the new wheels. Would rather just bring them in the trunk, have the tires peeled and mounted on the new rims, and then the new rims mounted on the car. save some time and expense.

Just trying to cut down on cost for now until I get some better tires in the future.

I don't plan on tracking it so the Primacy's will do just fine for now. Still lots of life left.

And then I will sell my OEM rims once the swap has been made.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Just want to say that I don't know how it works at your local shop. But in our shop you're technically getting the wheels put on your car for free when you get tires mounted and balanced.

And we do it properly (torque wrench).

I'd contact your shop and ask what they charge. Your best bet is to show up with your winters on and your summers in the car. IT gets complicated if you're ordering the wheels from a third party, in which case you're doing more than one trip to the shop.

If you're going for that end result, just be aware of the offset too. A higher positive offset on a 17x8 rim may not flush up the wheels quite as much.

I'm looking at a 17x8 +30. The wheels in the picture are apparently +35, so I should get a bit more flush than that, which is perfect.

I'm getting the swap done at the wheel/tire shop where I am purchasing the new wheels, and they are also taking my OEM wheels in on trade for a good price, so 3 birds 1 stone!
