Nah not that bad. He was just promoting his free app. Probably not the best idea to have a phone app that you use while speeding in your car though. I have however been doing the same calculations in my head for about 40 years.

Doesnt everyone calculate in their heads and then try to beat the GPS eta?

I do. My wife and I make bets how much time we can shave off the GPS ETA when we first start out. She even updates me every time we drop a minute from the time.

An app may be a good idea. It would show people how little time they actually save. Might reduce the number of speeders

He did make that point in his post. Could also entice them to speed up and try to get an even better time though. Once again it is some very basic math that anybody should be able to do without relying on a phone app.

Aren't 98% of all apps pointless and redundant anyways?

That is a good point really. Suppose that people rely on them for most things now no matter how basic or simple.

I would imagine he would have to be very careful how he marketed it to avoid liability. But I do agree most apps are there to do something we could do ourselves already
