My First Week Reactions with the car

I've been on this forum since 2011 thinking I was going to buy a 2012 86, but life happened and ended up never doing so. I finally decided no matter what to pull the trigger and went through with the purchase.

I've driven a turbo charged 2013ish Gen 1 BRZ before, but I feel like the 2022 Gen 2 86 is a lot more responsive, steering feel is better, shifting is a lot smoother and the gearbox feels soooo much like a Subaru. In fact it feels almost exactly like my 2004 WRX with all its unique quirks at each gear change from the sound and the feeling and how it grabs each gear. Weird I am saying this comparing a AWD to a RWD car, but it's unmistakable when you drive a Subaru for so long you can tell the difference that this car is a Subaru. I'm still in the break in period, but from the limited RPMs i've been using, I can feel like this car wants to pull hard (even being NA) and I'm just not letting her yet.

The interior is great. People think the Tesla interior is minimalistic and that's true, but I think the GR86 interior is also minimalistic in a way such that everything about the car has a reason to be there and it doesn't need to be like a Tesla where there's just nothing in the car except for a huge tablet that ends up being a horribly dangerous interface for multi-tasking. Everything about the GR86 is purposeful.

I love how low it is, but while the 911 GT3 next to me can sit on top of the parking block, everyone beware they will destroy our front lips....

Congrats to this beauty.
Let me know when you rev her out, how is the power difference to the WRX.
I think in curvey roads the GR hav less understeer and more direct steering.

I have to agree with all that your saying. Especially the gearbox.
I had a 08 WRX 10 years ago, haven't driven another Subaru since. But when I drove my BRZ, that second gear that was just a bit resistant instantly reminded me of my WRX shifter

As someone who's passed the 1k mile mark I can tell you with absolutely certainty that sense you're getting that the car is absolutely begging for an excuse to peg out the tach is 100% correct.

It revs like it wants to see 9000rpm (which of course it won't do and would be bad), but it's just so... eager. I love it.

Any gear, any RPM, it just wants to run. Tight as a drum, corners flat as hell, and so easy to just point and go.

Once they crack the ECU and we start getting the serious power-boosting goodies... this car is going to absolutely shock people.

How much more refined & quiet is the ride? I don't mind engine/exhaust noise & vibration, but I'm getting old and can't stand road/tire noise anymore though.

And how good/awful is the artificial engine noise from the speakers?

The speaker noise is terrible, but its like 30 seconds to disconnect it
