Seems to me you could add a standalone oil to water cooler, they do exist, just not as popular as oil/air or the integrated oil/water.

Couple different people offer this one, same concept, slightly different hardware and plubming:

I sent a letter to Doug Gill last year about the JR radiator/cooler combo and the answer was no it wouldn't be legal. Even if the dimensions were legal it's the "no other purpose" line for both of them that ends up making it illegal, as it's packaged as an all in one item. The radiator can function without the oil cooler, but the oil cooler can't function without the radiator. I meant to write a letter to add something to the radiator rule explicitly allowing radiators with integrated oil coolers.

Is the G Speed gas pedal relocation kit STX legal? I won one at yesterday's 86 autocross event.

If it isn't I don't want to install right before Solo Nats.

Far as I can tell, no. I'm not even sure the Cusco pedal cover is legal since it stretches the "cover" concept...

The G Speed no for sure, it relocates the pedal base mount. Totally different concept than a cover type.

The Cusco, or any similar cover type, is fine as it simply bolts over the stock pedal.

14.2 BODYWORK

A. Pedal cover kits and other interior cosmetic accessories may be added.

Yeah, what has me unsure is that it is effectively a very thick cover... It moves the pedal face to be even with the brake. But I suppose a thick cover would be legal, so the Cusco would be too.

Sorry, I'm new to SCCA and trying to decipher these rules and the thought process behind the wording.

So with regards to the G Speed relocation kit.

Section 13.2 BODYWORK (SOLO Street)
A. Accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance, comfort and
convenience modifications which have no effect on performance and/
or handling and do not materially reduce the weight of the car are permitted.........

14.1 AUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS (SOLO Street Touring)
All Solo Rules Street Category allowances, plus all allowances contained in Section 14.

So from my understanding everything allowed in Section 13 is also allowed in section 14.

Could you then argue that the relocation of the pedal is a "comfort and convenience" modification and does not have an effect on performance?

Or am I very far in left field?

This was also my understanding on the rule. The GSpeed relocation kit doesn't physically change the shape or cover of the gas pedal. It simply bolts under the mount to raise it a 1/2 or less.

Its would have no effect on handling or performance, in fact you would be adding weight. I don't see how its illegal. It's a comfort item to make the brake and gas pedal closer to even to make heel-toe easier in the car.

It probably could be! I hadn't thought of that when looking at the rules. So I take back what I said earlier.

However, the big difference is, "pedal cover kits" is explicitly allowed. Where as relocation kits are not.

You (or Brandon, who asked) can always email Doug for his take on the rule & part. The general rule of thumb with SCCA rules is; if it is not explicitly allowed, then it's not. Comfort & convenience is really broad.

All I use are DIF steering rack bushings. Not sure what others might be using elsewhere.

Looks like STX runs last heat at Solo Nationals. We get to have all the OPR.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing some familiar faces again!
