I didn't hate it. I mostly just wanted to "experiment" and see how much of a difference (if any) it made in sound. I definitely like the cleaner engine bay, but I also like hearing my cars make noises. I dunno, I'm never happy...

Anyone ever delete that giant box on the side of the stock airbox? It's just a resonator for the sound tube, correct?

Yes, I put a supercharger there. Sounds way better.

I'm pretty sure it's an anti-resonator (Helmholtz) to help stabilize the MAF signal.

That's a good idea. I've got plans for a turbo soon.

If that's the case, then I guess I'll leave it alone.

When I bought my afe intake I removed all the tubing associated with it. All the way to the firewall.

That's pretty much the only way to do it as far as I'm aware. Pulling the L shaped thingy out of the firewall seems easier than trying to disconnect the smaller diameter rubber hose from the larger hard plastic hose.

Today I updated my noise maker delete. I couldn't make the clamp for the cap I used on the intake boot very tight because without the sound tube the boot would collapse if the clamp was too tight. I stuck a piece of PVC into the boot in place of the sound tube, put the cap back on, and now I can make the clamp nice and tight to prevent vacuum leaks.

Well... Got to go to tire kingdom tomorrow and show them the scratches they put on my wheels while they mounted the tires. Didn't notice it that day because of the rainy weather and I couldn't see the damage. So much for being a tire rack recommend installer SMH...

Now, that might be a good idea - the manufacturer put it there for a reason -

Ohhh - good luck with that …

How many days/miles since you had the wheels mounted until you noticed the damage?

How can you be sure (prove?) the damage wasn't there before they mounted the tires?

Do you have a picture of the damage (for us to see)?

What are you going to ask them to do about it?

Please report back.

Good luck -
