It's in my sig. I don't drive it much. I don't completely baby it, but I don't constantly beat on it either. A lot of my drives are back country roads. Constant speeds around 50-55. That seems to help.

I drive aggressively so I get 25-26. I know how to squeeze 30-31 out of it though. Granny mode!

Woahh... Mine has never been anything below 20, besides when I just reset it at a red light. And it really depends on how the traffic is in your area and the kind of roads you use like @ziggz501 said.
In a freeway being hard on the gas, anything 80 and lower gives me about 32mpg. Traffic flow of 20-30 and i still manage to get 28.4mpg.
My best on the street is 29.2 when like almost every light was green.
Highways give me 35+mpg.

Cut to the chase, mine right now average is 28.2mpg.

I don't know how you guys get such good mpg on your car. I'm running 94 octane and Visconti tune. My average is 22mpg and best was 24 (95% of driving is city driving). This is all according to Fuelly.com

First 1000km with 2 fill ups calculated from fuel and the odometer.
A/C on virtually all the time. Didn't use the cruise much to vary the revs. Fair bit of full throttle to bed the rings in.
6.59L/100km 35.69mpgUS
6.89L/100km 34.15mpgUS

Very happy with that, especially when it's still tight and it's stinking hot weather.

I was averaging 33. Now that winter is here, with the heavier wheels/tires, and longer warm-up times, I'm down to 31. I drive the car daily about 25 miles (each way) to/from work. The drive is about 80% 2-lane country roads ~ 55mph, and 20% city.

When you post about fuel mileage, you should state whether or not it's a real figure calculated from fill up to fill up or the number on the average mpg display on the car. It does make a difference.

Calculated this way, running nothing but Exxon 93 and with 2,500 miles on the car, I have gotten a low of 26 mpg and a high of 32 approximately. This seems to be consistent with the numbers posted in other threads and with the numbers advertised. I think you have to discount figures like 40 mpg and 18 mpg- you don't know what they are burning, how they drive, or whether or not they calculated mpg properly or just read the cars display.

I concur with your point regarding how to more accurately measure fuel consumption. The most accurate way is unfortunately not very practical as it would involve a mass measure of fuel consumed and then a fuel temperature correction. This is how it is usually calculated in fuel economy competitions such as the Shell Fuelathon(in which I have participated) and the Shell ECO Marathon. These types of competitions are however usually run on a closed course, under similar environmental conditions, so those variables are also managed.

That being said.

One of the better places to check what people are experiencing fuel consumption wise is here:

http://www.fuelly.com/car/scion/fr-s/2013

You would also be correct in observing that we do not know how the information that has been uploaded to the site was collected, however there is a lot of data there, and there is an obvious average and reasonable distribution to the collected information which gives, because of the volume of information, some idea of what is reasonable to expect.

The FRS, whether AT or MT(it would be nice if Fuelly seperated MT and AT results) appears to experience a very wide range of FE depending on driving style, ambient temperature, topography, trip length, you name it, it appears to have a noticeable effect.

The extremes of my measured fuel consumption so far ranges from 46.9 mpusg for 100% highway driving to 25.2 mpusg for 100% city(& winter short trip). My average based on my Fuelly entries sits around 32mpusg. These are observations based on calculation from refuelling additions. Fuel used was Shell V-Power Premium 91AKI.

As you can see from the info on the Fuelly site, normal is also very broad!

I am just about to hit 500 miles on my fr-s. When I drove it off the lot the odometer had 7 miles on it and the avg mpg was at 11, and its been slowly creeping up. I have driven 100% city and at my first fill up the avg mpg showed 21 but my math at the pump showed I got 27mpg.

Anyone who has driven a lot know how long it takes to get an accurate reading?

My average MPG is sitting right at 29.5. My driving is about 50% city, 50% highway.

The 25.2 for city sounds about right, but I'm having a hard time believing the 46.9, since I have done two trips that consume about one tank on pretty flat highways (Maryland Eastern shore) with speeds of 60-70 mph (I used cruise control often), in good weather, and got around 32 mpg both times. What kind of driving conditions delivered the 46.2?
