I was reading this today:

https://www.sema.org/files/attachmen...black-book.pdf

Quote:
Once you have obtained satisfactory test results, the lab will prepare a summary report that reveals all the findings and indicates the necessary E.O. requirements have been met. It is at this juncture the ARB will either (1) conduct confirmatory tests to verify the lab’s data or (2) assume all results are conclusive and proceed to issue of the E.O. This latter step typically requires about 30 days of administrative time, on the part of the CARB. If you have not received any communication from the CARB in this period of time, it’s best to contact the staff person with whom you have previously been working.
I'm hoping it is the latter of the two possibilities, and that any day now we will get notification that the kit is CARB approved because it has been almost 60 days since the car was at the SEMA lab.

That post is from 2015...

There have been more delays, and thats all I can really say.

Oh, sad, but thanks for the update. You meant CSG Mike’s post from 3-6-18 was of a pic from Harrop’s IG from 2015? I guess I missed that. Maybe he was subtly saying that they have been to the lab before with setbacks. Kinda crazy that they were at the lab in 2015, and it is 2018 now with no CARB. Considering they passed Australia’s emissions, the CARB standards must really be a jump in difficulty. Hopefully it won’t be another three years.

I am thinking of getting a Delicious Tune. I am going to run the 85mm pulley or 11-12psi, I think. In my research people are saying I need to upgrade my MAP sensor because DT uses the MAP to tune instead of the MAF, and the stock MAP sensor is apparently rated to 1 bar or 14 psi, but can't really manage that pressure. Is this true?

FWIW, I purchased mine as a complete kit (through The Racers Line), but it came with a Delicious branded map sensor. Still on the base Harrop pulley for now.

Meaning you purchased the Delicious tune/license/ecutek/etc with your Harrop tuner kit, and part of that setup was an upgraded map sensor?

DT sells a 10 psi MAP sensor and a 4 bar MAP sensor. I got an email back from DT which says I'll need the 4 bar sensor to cover the 85mm pulley, so I will have to buy that too when I get my license and tune.

I believe that Delicious tunes these cars using mostly speed/density and not primarily the MAF.

Here is a copy of the items I bought from Neil:

Harrop SC Tuner Kit
Harrop Australia Supercharger Kit (no tuning)-FRS/BRZ

*Delicious Tuning Harrop Tune Kit*
-Delicious Tuning Edelbrock Tune
-Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel Kit (OEM Fuel Lines)
-Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel Mounting Bracket
-Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel Badge
-Delicious Tuning Injector Hard Connector set
-Deatschwerks 700cc Injector
-Deatschwerks DW300c Fuel Pump
-EcuTeK ProECU Cable Kit
-EcuTeK ProECU License
-Quick Disconnect Fuel Line Tools

Delicious MAP
11 PSI MAP Sensor

The Edelbrock tune? DT has a Harrop tune. Considering they both use the same supercharger and general setup I’m sure the tunes are identical.

I'm sure that's just the way that it was written on the quote. The actual tune file I received via email was named "Harrop". That tune was quickly revised with actual logs I sent Zach.

The only real differences between the Edelbrock and Harrop kits (that I can see) is the pulley size (effects boost level), the choice and location of the MAP sensor (effects scaling), the surface area of the air filter, and a possible difference in intercooling efficiency (effects?). So, I'm guessing the initial base map only differs in MAP scaling.

I would imagine the runner length differences between the two would also play a part in the tune.

The MAF scaling will be dramatically different.

I'd be curious what positive difference the cams made, if any. IME cams can actually hurt a PD blower's power output.

Regardless, looks like a lot of fun. Take care of those rods...

A friend who has the same built motor/head/supercharger with stock cams needed 20psi to reach ~400 whp. But different dyno and tuner so there are lots of variables.

Engines like flow. As long as the whole system is setup and tuned correctly, more flow will yield more power.
