I don't know about that, I do all the spannering on my cars
I'm amazed that the car doesn't fall apart like in the old Buster Keating movies The only thing I really don't touch is tuning and alignments Speaking of which, I tried a toe alignment by eye when I installed rear adjustable toe arms, the car is now sitting in the garage until I arrange a real alignment My eye is guaranteed to be well out of calibration

My car was tuned by Zach Tucker, formerly of Delicious Tuning, and gloriously pops and crackles on demand. So there goes your theory.

To me it's something that kids who don't know better think is cool. Antilag serves a purpose, this doesn't, unless the purpose is to be purposely obnoxious. I'm sure all the owners of cars with antilag think your pop tune is cute. The tuner makes money by giving the kids what they want, so "pops and crackles brings all the boys to the yard". If you like boys in your yard that is, but that's another story, and perfectly acceptable in this day and age, just remember though, just because you think it's good, it doesn't mean others do.

Where did I ever say I have, or requested, a "pop tune"?

Thank you for the courtesy of quoting my post and proving my point about how I never said I have, or requested, a "pop tune".

Let me attempt to break it down for you, starting with our original exchange: Quote: Originally Posted by 86MLR No, because my car was tuned by a pro "My car was tuned by Zach Tucker, formerly of Delicious Tuning, and gloriously pops and crackles on demand. So there goes your theory." In your post, you incorrectly make a vast generalization that if your car is tuned by "a pro", then it will not make pop and/or crackle sounds. I simply reply and state that my car was, in fact, tuned by "a pro". Yet, I can make several types of exhaust noise, including pops, crackles, etc., therefore disproving your half baked theory. You seem to be projecting a bizarre notion that I specifically asked Zach Tucker for a "pop tune". This is not at all the case. I simply had my car street tuned in person by Zach when I got an E85 FlexFuel kit installed. I didn't make any verbal requests to him whatsoever regarding the "type" of tune that I wanted. A "pop tune" is something that's covered extensively in this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61069 Please understand that when I say "on demand", I mean that I can control when it makes these raucous noises. Either by shifting at certain points/RPMs, by partially feathering the throttle upon declaration, or just by stationary revving in a certain way. It's at my will, not happening randomly because I specifically requested a "pop tune" from a tuner. Hope this helps you finally understand what I originally wrote: I don't have a pop tune, nor did I request one. Also, that it helps further discredit your incorrect theory that cars that have been tuned by "a pro" don't make exhaust pops or crackles.

If your tuner didn't retard the ignition timing and leanout the fuel you wouldn't have the old pops and bangs. But he did, so you do. My point about a "pro" tune was that a pop tune has absolutely no performance advantage, and, possible reliability issues, so, being a professional and all, he shouldn't, and doesn't add risk for no gain. Nice talk

I have catless headers and no muffler, both resonators and secondary cat are stock. I get some slight burbles and crackles on the 3-2 downshift, stock tune. If you rev out a low gear like 1st or 2nd and hit the brakes hard while still in gear, I think the RPMs dropping fast while engine braking makes it make cool noises.
