What Arduino are you using? Are you by any means worried of it being affected by extreme temperatures? I've had Arduino freeze on me at colder temperatures.

I'd love to see the code you're using, i have completely no idea how canbuss works with arduino or even what type of libraries (Assuming they are used) would be used. Could you share any links of references? Thanks!

I know people will be amazed at the price point of this build, but seeing an Arduino with canbuss is the most amazing aspect of this build...
Arduino Uno R3, even if it failed I wouldn't lose any critical system. Car is driveable with it disconnected. I have no problem sharing the code. The Arduino with canbus parts cost 75USD total.

Can I pay you to go along the first time you take it in for warranty service! I would not give them any warning!

You would fit right in with the Grassroots motorsports crowd. Those guys hold a yearly competition where the total build budget for the car must not exceed the year. ie $2015 would be the budget for this year. The car must run a drag race, a slalom and do a "Concourse" show. The fast cars are into the 10 second bracket on the drag-strip and some look pretty impressive on the solo course and the show field.

As to swaps in general, they are kind of a non-rational thing to start with. You do them cause you want to and nothing/no-one else really matters. You point out a very real fact when you mention that your are currently burned out. Just as you want the money and time to stop going into the car, you hit the road and the debug/development phase. Most first time builders are not financially and/or emotionally prepared for this.

So how did the t56 fit? Any sheet metal work need to be done, or just some custom mounts?

You just need to cut out the welded in transmission tunnel frame mount.
Hammer a few spots to allow a bit more clearance and make your own mount. However even after this clearance is terrible! I also had to make my own shifter handle to get it to align with console. Took me 5 attempts before I got it right. Engine swap is easy, the transmission part is a nightmare.

Love your project man! Also love the fact you done it all on your own without any swap kits,I wish I had the electrical "know how" to do a ls swap and have everything working as per factory(gauges/steering/abs).You should work on your code to make everything work and program a few of those canbus/arduino systems and sell them,I know I'd be interested in one and after reading all the threads on this fourm about ls swaps,I would not be the only one interested..you make it sound easy, but to a guy like me who's idea of tunning a car is with a flat top screw driver syncing two 4 barrels on a tunnel ram or blower :p,the idea of using a laptop/computer/coding to make things work is way over my head..once again man props to you!!! I'll be following your Thread to see updates on your project in the future

You are my hero. Well done sir.

I would be super thrilled if you were willing to toss your code into the CAN BUS DIY thread.

I'm super jealous of the last two threads here.. My project has been held up; I've been on the road with job stuff for months now, and I'm in the middle of moving again. (originally going overseas but not anymore)

Awesome job! I'm thinking of saving up for an LS3 swap into my twin, but it'll be a while.

New part costs are USD excluding any taxes/shipping.
Used/sold part costs are Canadian.

For anyone thinking of doing something similar, try to find yourself a GTO LS2 and save yourself a lot of time and money getting verses all the parts separately like I did. I'm sure in the USA you could find some of the used parts for less.

Awesome thread man. I am trying to source a set of engine mounts. Would you be interested in fabbing an extra set?
