grams throttle body install, won't start

Anyone have any pics of their grams throttle body installed with the 2017 intake manifold? I tried installing mine today but the car wouldn't start. It said I may have to attempt several times, but I couldn't manage to get it to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I don't have specific knowledge of this install but you should be able to work through the basics. Double check anything you unplugged to install the throttle body has been plugged back in properly. The next thing I'd check is you battery. Beyond that what other mods do you have? Did you change anything else at the same time?

LIke Turdinator suggested, and also make sure that you installed a gasket in there otherwise, there is no way it will work properly.

What year is your car? That thing doesn't fit properly on 2017 without modification.

Thanks for the advice I will try again tomorrow. I have a 2013 FRS with the 2017 intake manifold. I read that the tabs need to be adjusted? I shaved the left tab down for a previous throttle body spacer. Is there something else?

I could not imagine of installation issues, but grams throttle body might be different. Let us know of the outcome.

Nope not necessarily true anymore. Their current batch of throttle bodies don't require any sort of intake manifold modification to fit properly.

The spacer comes with a drilled hole that the pin/tab on the lower left side sits in. The pin/tab on the upper right side of the intake manifold never got in the way of the throttle body spacer before or after the spacer revision.

If you recently purchased the throttle body from grams directly, your spacer will be the updated version. I purchased mine on July 4th and received the updated spacer.

Here is a pic of the spacer included in my box.

I talked to grams at 86fest about the throttle body and I was under the impression from our discussion that you have to get the car retuned to tell the pcm that there is more air coming in. Would that be an issue for starting? I am not a tuning guru at all, still learning.

I talked to them too at 86fest. Nothing else is needed for the throttle body to start working. disconnect battery, add new throttle body, connect battery turn on car, turning on car may take a few tries and some pressing of the gas peddle to get it initially started, let idle until warmed up, once warm let idle for 5 more min, turn off, turn on and drive for 10 min. that is what the instructions say.

If it does not turn on at all the given instructions say it could be a faulty wiring harness and to contact them to swap for a new one if it's bad.

@TachyonBomb thank you very much for the pictures! It looks like the spacer, thermal gasket, and TB are all flush together (at least from the top). Is that the case? If I line everything up so that the hump at the top is in line with them all, the spacer extends a bit more to the left.

This is a very easy, straight forward, bolt on part. The coolant bypass and plug in the TB are simple. Plug the harness in and follow the startup procedure in the instructions.

This booted up first try with my 2013 w/ 2017 Manifold and it had learned idle within a few seconds.
