Saturday I got to help my buddy @PA-86 install a Whiteline transmission support poly insert, then drove around his ACE 4-2-1 header equipped car for a back to back with my JDL UEL header. Good times
Monday I got my new tires 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE-71Rs Today I got my new wheels courtesy of @OAKOS Automotive 17x9 ET35 Gold Enkei RPF1s. Right around 15lbs and as awesome looking as I had hoped! |

I kept scrolling down, searching for the results of the comparison. Nothing!

I plan on getting the tires mounted Saturday, but I can't wait for it to get nice enough out

The ACE (with 250 overpipe) feels a touch stronger up top, JDL UEL feels stronger down low. Otherwise very similar, especially mid-range (being ~5000 RPM). Somehow the ACE feels smoother, at least in my opinion. That could just be the difference in sound playing with my head as I'd never have said my JDL was anything but smooth before. We did a pull 2nd-3rd with me in front and he didn't fall behind nor did he really gain massively or anything. That said, the ACE isn't really optimized either, just an OTS EL Stg2 tune for OFT. We've yet to play with anything yet, so it's a little bit rich and looks like it can take more timing. AFR is relatively smooth though. Additionally, he's got the stock front pipe and midpipe limiting things, though he does have the Nameless axleback. My JDL UEL is using a pretty dialed in OFT tune with Shiv's AVCS maps that he tuned for the JDL UEL and a lot of my time spent on the MAF scaling and other tweaks here and there. I also have a full 2.5" exhaust, JDL OP, FP and Perrin CBE. I won't be surprised if his car ends up a touch faster all said and done. It won't have the Subaru rumble though, hehe. The ACE does sound fantastic though! In my opinion, build quality wise they're both great. I didn't get to see the insides of the ACE, but based on the pics I've seen it's on par with JDL. My JDL has some specks of rust poking through the ceramic coat and the flanges are rusty (super not impressed with that since it looks like crap, BTW, but it's just the grade of stainless they used. workmanship is spectacular). I hope the ACE doesn't do that, but we'll find out. We both daily drive in all of the snow and salty slop and his header is obviously uncoated. I'll let @PA-86 chime in if he has any thoughts on the comparison, he's driven my car a few times too. |

Just a word of caution when it comes time to disassemble the switch box from the actual trim piece, there are just 4 tab-type clips holding it in place. The plastic is thin and brittle, so you'll have to use caution when prying the sides out to release the clips. I found that the wedge-type plastic trim tools worked well for doing this. May even want to heat it up a little bit to make the plastic more flexible. I carefully slid one in each side then the clips released pretty easy. May be tough with just a screwdriver though.

Recently purchased a '16 BRZ Limited... Thinking of replacing OEM fogs with brighter LEDs. Questions: What brand did you purchase? If Diode Dynamics, which color/model? Cool white 6000k? Model XML2 1420 lumens? XML2 too bright/"blind" oncoming traffic? 2016 OEM HIDs match cool white? Thanks! |

These are what I bought. The stock fogs were far too offwhite to match factory HIDs. These say 6500 so may be a touch "whiter" than factory. Mine is a premium so I bought the factory kit and installed it so it looks like a limited from the front, but no stupid spoiler on the back (sorry, I hate the BRZ spoiler). With the new LEDs in the front, and the clear sidemarkers, the entire front end looks a million times better at night! There are not diode dynamics, but I have heard very good things about them. If you need a different color, I have seen on these forums that they are willing to work with their customers to make sure they get what they want and are fully happy. |
