No shame in being a noob. Everybody's been there. DIY yards are fun places to hunt for treasure.

for anyone mechanically-inclined, enjoy auto shows, or even people that enjoy watching russian car crash videos!

i've spent over 4 hours wandering around one yard just looking. plenty of wrecked cars to see up close for as long as you want. there's a lot of tech schools will use junkyard cars for paint and body work training, so wild things will pop up in the middle of the yard that just deserve a closer look. or there's plenty of questionable customizations that people do to cars that end up there as well.

and not so much these cars, but older domestic vehicles had a ton of trim variants, sometimes very random one's-- if you start looking, there's some wild factory iterations worth looking through as well.

Hells bells, back in the day, I've driven hundreds of miles with the engine not even having an air cleaner -

Why? Because you never knew when you would be challenged to a drag race -

Just don't allow a small bird or mouse to get stick in the hole - nor allow a mud dauber to build a nest in the opening -

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Ill keep an eye on oil consumptiom though theres not much to do regardless
Welp, it's a dang good thing you weren't poor and lived back in farm country back in my day -

The junk yard is where we got spare parts - just ask ol @Ultramaroon. Of course, he may not remember why he was there because he was busy taking shiny things off cars, whether or not he had a car like that! -

I might be able to use it for something.

Ha, I'm in an era of my life where time is at a premium to money. The closest pick-your-part style yard is 30 minutes from me and their site says its 40$ for an intake. They may or may not let me take just the resonator off the hose, idk. But I decided to just go with the Perrin hose for 110$

Just 5 years ago the equation woulda swung the other way, and maybe in a decade I'll come full circle when I have both time and money do things just for the heck of it but for now I'll take the hose shipped to my house
