Hahaha that's funny. That's what all my friends think towards AT as well. My age group is around 21. So guess they are still immature in a sense.

I bought a MT, but not because "AT is gay".
I originally started out driving AT like most people, but that eventually got boring for me and I wanted more control over my car.
MT gives me just that, it makes me concentrate more on driving
Also other added bonuses
- I actually get an average of 7.6 L/100km, which converts to 37mpg
- Most people can't drive manual, so theft proof? haha
- Cheaper than AT
- I don't know about faster, but its certainly more fun to move your entire body

But like everyone else has said, the AT on this car is amazinggggg. So if you enjoy driving your car, you shouldn't give a fuck what anyone says. Your friends just haven't matured yet.
Also, you don't have to worry about burning your clutch :P

I get the exact opposite response from family and friends...

"You should have gotten the automatic."
"Why buy a manual?"
"An automatic is easier to drive, why stick?"
etc. etc.

I always answer with "because race car" and they always gives me a puzzled reaction, lol.

Maybe learn to modulate the throttle first theres nothing to fix. These cars revv pretty freely and are meant to be revv'd out

Love my AT, only issue is it shifts too fast in D. Sure I can shift in manual, but let’s be honest. We all work and are tired and sometimes we just want to get home. Not every ride are we in the race car mood. I also have an 04 WRX in AT and the 4eat shifts much better for straight line. Wish there was a TCU programmable shift kit.

Haters...

At least the transmission takes their attention them from the fact that it's 'not a practical car to daily', and that 'it could use more power', or 'why did you get that colour', or whatever else someones opinion could consist of that might offend.

I've noticed, that if you put the car into SNOW mode, there is less of a chance for it to jump. Living up here in the snow country, I've had lots of experience with the SNOW mode.

I do actually have regrets. I do have fun driving my FRS AT (just a little over a year) but having driven many MT vehicles (including other lower-power sports cars) I know that I am missing a certain % of fun and overall driving experience. I am in the “other family members can drive it on occasion” camp. However, in reality that never happens, as my other family members are too worried they might scratch “my baby”. :-)

There's been a lot of necroposting lately. Sometimes I think someone created a new thread, only to find out the op hasn't been online since 2013

There are necroposts for good reason like when somebody has new info or a new question on the subject (such as this one) and then there are ones that usually are just "me too". Many are obvious that the poster didn't know or care that the thread was old.
In fairness to some if they make a new thread on an old subject they just get barraged with "SEARCH NOOB" so they can not win no matter what they do.
At least Halo had a question that somebody may be able to answer with more than "learn how to drive".
