He says he uses completely stock engines. The stock baffling is apparently very good and the engines can tolerate 300F oil without blowing up. The famous Formula D 2AR build also has completely stock oil pan and pump.

1990 Talon Tsi FWD 1992 Laser AWD turbo 1999 Integra GSR 2001 Prelude SH 1997 Del Sol Si 1995 Thunderbird V8 1994 Miata 1998 Neon ACR 2005 SRT4 It's kind of early to tell, but I'm really liking MR so far. I've driven an Elise for several days and my mom owns a first generation Boxster. The Boxster always felt weird to me, and the Elise can't really be driven hard on public roads. This car has the push of my old turbo DSMs, but really reminds me of my FRS when it comes to seating position and visibility. The sound of the turbo spooling right behind my head is addicting. It's a really unique combination when it comes to driving characteristics. The manual steering is refreshing and the car brakes surprisingly well. The thing I love most is how planted the car feels during acceleration in low speed turns. Last edited by funwheeldrive; 02-05-2018 at 12:23 PM. |

I'm 5'11" and my head brushes the roof in one of those.
Funny you said the 986 Boxster feels weird as I've found the handling to be quite odd and not as agile as I thought. Could have been the really big steering wheel or the age of the car. Does the MR2 sit lower than the twin? How's the visibility? |

One on the side said "16v dohc turbo" and the ones on the back said "talon tsi awd" with a sweet eagle emblem. My image embedding was lacking, lol |

I would say that the Mr2 sits slightly lower than the FRS, but the difference is very small. What I love about the Mr2 is that you can barely see the hoodline when you're in the driver's seat. In that sense it makes my FRS feel bulky. IIRC the SW22 hardtop weighs roughly 2750lbs, so almost identical to the FRS, but it feels like a bigger difference since the actual car is quite a bit smaller. |

The combination of the heavy feeling with the lack of body roll made the Boxster a somewhat weird driving experience.
The MR2 probably sits fairly close to a Honda of the same era. I think the twin has a similar hoodline to the final Prelude but probably doesn't sit as low, with our dash not angling down towards the occupants doesn't help either. I have fairly big feet so heel and toe German cars with bottom hinged gas pedals doesn't bother me much. I'm just not a fan of the slight offset seating position. |
