First, from packaging point of view, it's very tall. And while turbos/piping doesn't weigh all that much comparatively, it does move COG upwards. Also, the rest of the structure needs to be tall to accommodate it's height. Less of a concern for mid-engined cars than front, but still important.

Then performance. Peak power at 5.7k and peak torque at 3.5k means that it isn't rewarding to rev it out, which seems to be something the majority of sports car enthusiasts like. Seemingly effortless acceleration and speed can be rewarding by itself, but doesn't suit a sports car.

Something else to consider is turbos and exhaust piping gets hot. And you are putting all that radiant heat as close as possible to your combustion chamber with nowhere to go. It's great for a couple of pulls from a highway roll, but I would think you would run into heat soak problems if you ran it hard all day.
I just figured since nowadays bespoke/exclusive engines are becoming exceedingly rare, GM would be looking to use this elsewhere to get the biggest return on their investment. But I guess they could just stick this in some kind of escalade-v, lol. At the very least I imagine there could be some shared tech between the two engines, but who knows.

The AMG 4.0 liter TT V8 is also a hot V design and the AMG GT sports cars don't seem to have any heat soak issues that I've heard of.

I don't like hot Vs because you can't increase the size of the turbos. Also, incredibly cramped conditions for performing any maint work.

A little later, we saw a DOHC motor with turbos outside of the V.

So at this point, who knows.
