Thanks for the detailed DIY!
Last time I changed springs was on a 98 Honda Prelude, and it seems like the BRZ/FRS setup looks slightly more straight forward without all the pushing down on suspension arms to get things out/in, lol.
Will come back to this very useful thread for reference, when I am ready to upgrade from stock

Hehe, thanks. I actually wrote this after a few celebratory beers and deleted some of the dorkier jokes that I put into the first draft.

FML: I ordered them through a friend that has a direct account with Eibach. I have two extra sets, hehe, but only selling them to Portland local owners.

I just spent the day in the twisties and they handle pretty good. A tad stiffer than stock, but not too harsh. Still haven't scraped my front bumper.

Please change your write-up to instruct people to use spring compressors to remove the stock springs.

I'm sure the BRZ/FRS stock springs are not compressed very heavily, and your DIY method works just fine.

But we, as a forum, need to be over-cautious when instructing members on car repair methods. The last thing we need is some kid thinking it's easy to remove springs without proper tools. They might be successful on the BRZ, but what happens when they try it on another car.. something big an heavy and much more highly compressed.. they could get hurt really badly.

Please err on the side of caution when doing DIY guides. Homebrew methods are great.. but only when there are zero safety implications.

Other than that.. excellent writeup! Thank you for taking the and energy to document all the steps with pictures and graphics. Nice work!!!

Spring compressors are very often available for rent at your local autoparts store. Usually they don't cost anything at all to rent. I know that at Advance Autoparts the rental is free. You buy the kit and then you have 45 days to bring back for a full refund. The nice thing about the AAP kit is that the hooks for the springs are cast iron, not rolled steel. So they are much stronger. I like the kit so much that I kept the one I rented for future projects.

It costs the person nothing to do things the right way.
