Top Gear (UK) track times

I have this friend with a ST190. He reckons I sell my 86 as soon as a st150 gives me gaps, a ST190 will demolish me
Some lap times:
01:29.3 Ford Focus RS Mk II
01:30.1 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
01:30.8 Focus RS 500 (wet)
01:31.3 Toyota GT86 (partly wet)
01:31.4 Audi TT Mk.II 2.0T
01:31.8 BMW M3 E46
01:31.8 Nissan 350Z
01:31.9 BMW 130i (E87)
01:32.1 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG (wet)
01:32.5 Renaultsport Mégane 225 Cup
01:33.0 Vauxhall Astra VXR
01:33.5 Honda Civic Type-R (FN2-2007)
01:33.5 SEAT Leon Cupra Mk2
01:33.7 Volkswagen Golf Mk.V GTI
01:34.0 Renault Mégane 225
01:34.9 Ford Focus ST (wet) (2.5)
01:35.0 Volvo S60 R
01:38.06 Honda Civic Type-R (EP3)

I wonder where the ST190 will list?
A ST150 is a fiesta ST. ST190 has steve wyndham cams, exhaust and intake with uni chip.

Tell your friend to get a life.
If you do the same mods to your 86 and put on wider tyres, you will annihilate him.
You can't compare a std car to a modified car.

But more imprtantly. How lekker was Amy McDonald. 25yrs and she has a 458 Italia. She works so she can buy her nice cars

I'd say zero chance the Fiesta would beat the Type-R around the TG track.

Now that you look at those times and put them in a ZA perspective, the 86 did damn well! Most of the cars that it beat will annihilate the 86 in a drag race, but when serious cornering is involved the 86 is better. A very well balanced car with price, handling and power.

Now change the tyres and have a dry track and I reckon another 1.5 sec can be realistically cut off that laptime...

There is an article somewhere testing different tyres - can't remember which track but it was around 2secs quicker than on the "Prius" tyres.

It's a real pity that the Top Gear track was wet, it would have been interesting to know what it could have done. It looked VERY composed on their track.

It was still very good in the wet I have to say. E46 M3... New Stig is also a bit better I think than old Stig for sure. Sorry Ben Collins...

Yep, very short track.

GeeTee - what your mate is also forgetting is that having "190HP" probably also pushes the Fiesta's chassis way beyond its limits. Adding more power doesn't always equate to better lap times, especially not on a short, tight track such as Top Gear or Zwartkops.

And the Fiesta will never be as cool or exclusive as the 86...
Or as reliable after the mods... New Fiesta ST is coming and claims 0-100km/h in 6.9sec..

Basically what those proves is that we all made a very well informed decision prior to the Top Gear vote of confidence which could have ruined this car. Well done everyone! We all knew a good car when we saw it.

Clarkson must really like this car, as he was not too critical considering some of the more obvious flaws. OK he didn't see the horrid Hilux radio we have, but he would have forgiven it anyway.

The AE86 is a legend, the (GT) 86 will follow!
