Has anybody been guilty of punching the throttle before the car reached operating temps?

AVO Turbo Kit Owners Topic

Should I consider investing in an oil cooler for this kit if I never go past 104c?

Could you take a picture of that?

So...

...a tiny leak developed.

(YES, I used the STI gaskets)
(YES, I used permitex "copper" exhaust sealant)
(YES, all of the bolts are properly torqued town and were re-torqued after 100 or so heat cycles)

So my question to the community is should I worry about this? I'm at 8 psi right now...

Just get it fixed. I didn't use any sealant for my headers

but fixed means taking the whole kit off the car and doing what exactly:

1) Getting a new header from Paul?

2) Taking the existing header to a shop and having them ground flat?

3) ????

Paul won't give you a new header, it will come down to "installation issues". If you have it planed down you may run into fit issues with your overpipe. Your best bet is to just live with the tiny bit of leakage.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread that grinding it flat is not the way to go based on how the header mounts to the engine.
It was either Bob or AVO that posted it.

There were no "installation issues..."

...the straight edge is a custom ground unit even to within .0001" of an inch. We can see in these installation pics how uneven the header is with itself. The funny thing is that it's the side that wasn't too bad that's leaking.

So basically AVO's warranty as it sits is worthless?

(I did mention this to Paul but at the time he didn't think it would become an issue. )

It's worth a try but I don't think there's been that many people who have had theirs replaced, myself included.

Does anyone know if new headers from later production runs are any better than the headers from earlier runs?

Finally ordered my avo oil cooler kit. To anybody who has installed one, do you have any pointers when installing? Pics maybe?

has anyone had an issue with the seal where the mechanical pump for the oil return line meets the block? when i get to redline and letoff, there is a drop of oil that comes out and lands on the overpipe and smokes. Is there an OE gasket or that could be used? maybe whatever they use on the automatics? when installed I used high temp RTV sylicone...
