If you need to pass emissions this kit isn't for you. That or you need to move to a state that doesn't care.

Also noted. I've always had issues with the replacement fuel pumps until I purchased the Walbro 485. The zip ties and extra o-rings with the replacement pumps is a joke. The Fullblown Walbro 485 kit gives you a real bracket and nothing is no longer paper clipped together. Downside to the FullBlown 485 is the price, but if you can get past that the endgame is perfect.

What do you guys do when it's time to pass emissions tests? I assume a lot of people live in places where they don't have to, but there seem to be a lot of people running turbos in cities and California.

I always assumed a tuner could rig the ECU to tell and OBDII scan that all the emissions equipment was functioning. i live in Ohio and all they do is a visual inspection for a catalyst (I'd keep the second one) and plug in a scanner.

It's now my understanding that tuners don't do this. In hindsight the legal implications are worrisome so I can't blame them. The only alternative I can see is removing the turbo, bolting up the stock exhaust manifold and returning the tune to stock. This seems inconvenient enough until you think about what you're going to do with the oil and water lines that go to the turbo.

My long term plan was to get this kit, but after a great deal of thought it seems like it might be a major ordeal to keep plates on the thing if I did.

As much as I like the kit, I think I'm going to stay where I am. Is there anyone running this kit who has managed to pass an OBDII scan with all emissions systems reading "ready"

I'm still learning how this stuff works, but it seems to me that if both O2 sensors were installed and the second one was scaled to ignore the lack of cat efficiency it could show in the ready position.

I've also read that there's a possible problem on the vacuum side of things.

I'm not quite ready to give up yet.

Your tuner should disable the secondary O2 sensor. The OBDII system will still stay in a Ready state. This is how it's done for NA as well with no issues come inspection time.

Got a great deal on a used FBM premium kit that was used for only 10 hours. It'll be delivered tmrw and I'm looking to start installation thi weekend if wifey agrees to give me a ride to work every day for next couple weeks while FRS is in the garage.
Happy as hell with this purchase, I missed turbo feel so much after I sold my SR20 powered Nissan.

Got a question for @FullBlown
Since I'm buying kit used, can I get only a base tune from you guys?

Hey guys I bought a used hot side turbo kit
I’m going to use a 5557 precision journal bearing and buy the fbm stage 1 intercooler separately I didn’t receive any of the hardware that comes with the kit how important is it and is it stuff I won’t be able to source easily? I’m letting a shop do the install, also what budget exhaust advice do you guys have I have OEM front pipe and over pipe currently
If I tune the car using this exhaust set up will my dyno numbers suffer dearly?

Also one more question who did you guys to tune? I live in the north east area but I heard moto east went to shit.

Here's a few pics I took during install. Car is currently over at FBM getting tuned and I'll post up the dyno results when I have them. Cant wait to get this baby back on the road!

Using the air intake that comes with the kit, do you have to remove the bumper to clean the air filter?
