The guy in that thread also said the car they were shown Is closer to this render. Said he was disappointed, because hype train. Assuming he isn't full of shit.

Another guys says 340 hp, engine unknown, and under 2900 lbs.

According to the guy on supramkv who has insider contacts and appears to be something of an insider himself, what was shown in Europe was a prototype - the final designs for the front and rear fascias have not been chosen yet.

He claims to have seen the final figures for weight and dimensions, and he's the one who states the car is under 2900 lbs and is smaller than some are expecting. Ironic - a while back I was called out for "trolling" here for arguing the car could come in at around 3100 lbs rather than 3300-3400.

Of course if Toyota has to use a lot of expensive materials to get the weight that low the car is probably going to cost as much as a Vette.

I don't know why people assume the GRMN/TRD edition is gonna have more power. All TRD models of every Toyota vehicle in the past decade had only cosmetic and suspension upgrades.

It's definitely small

We've already determined it isn't much bigger than a Twin.

With more aluminum, smarter use of high strength steel, and a lack of rear seat you would greatly offset any weight gains from the heavier powertrain and sound deadening.

I don't think 2900 lbs ist some impossible number.

Don't forget our flat 4 is actually pretty damn heavy because of it's design. Vorshlag threw a V8 and a tremec transmission in and only gained 50 lbs

So it's power train could easily be lighter. And only needing to handle 340 hp the transmission could be light as well

This is what I’m waiting to see... I think they’ll create a good car then price it stupidly.

It probably will be more than people are expecting. Just look at the twins, people were guessing low 20's but it was realistically closer to 30k if you factored the brz into the equation.

No go for Detroit. It's all about profitable SUVs as more jerks get into these road hogging behemoths that I can't F$#^#^%$ see around.

http://www.motortrend.com/news/toyot...lineup-expand/

If you were hoping to see the return of the Toyota Supra in January at the North American International Auto Show, you will be disappointed.

It’s too soon to unveil the much-anticipated sports car. Specifications are still being finalized and it’s not at production levels yet, said Jack Hollis, Toyota group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division in North America.

Even the name has not been pinned down. Supra is a candidate but not the only candidate. In fact, “there are other names that could be better,” Hollis told Motor Trend in an interview. Cressida? Celica? And there have been suggestions it could be badged Gazoo instead of Toyota, a nod to Toyota’s Gazoo Racing team.
