Why delete the sound tube?

So I reading from a lot of people that they want to delete the sound tube? But they want a cai, headers ect? I don't get it.. or maybe I missed a thread somewhere.

People want the better exhaust and cai for performance and sound.. but then why remove the sound tube?

because at 5000-6000 rpm at constant throttle application the vibration of the tube hitting manifold ounds like detonation and is shitty

I think the real question is why is it there in the first place. It's not like this is some luxury car that's so well insulated you can't hear the engin at all. I don't need the extra weight to pipe extra noise inside the cabin.

I'm actually headed to the shop this afternoon to machine a set of plugs to delete the sound tube.

The reason is that its a functionless part, it doesn't really add anything to the car (though apparently there is a very small hp loss when its taken out) other than being able to hear the engine sound/noise more clearly.

To clean up the engine bay, less clutter.

Most aftermarket intakes will produce more sound then the soundtube will be able to produce.

What I want to know is why people don't understand that an aftermarket intake will allow you to hear it clearly through the cabin of the car without a sound tube...

Who knows. I have driven with it disconnected, and vastly prefer having it hooked up.

I'm not sure how you're reading it but no typo.

The sound tube/resonator is extra cost and weight in the design of the car. It's function is to pump engine noise inside the cabin. If anything I want less engine noise inside not more. If sound is a byproduct of a performance upgrade that's fine but why fake it?

In my opinion there is more then ample audio feedback from the engine without the sound tube. If however you just want your car to sound louder (which many do) it's a great little device.
