Yes, true. True. Historically higher HP street cars (big engine and heavy) were ones that couldn't corner, and lower HP (small engine and light) were ones that could. Modern tech has changed that a lot for street cars.

So because of this thread I almost bought this car tonight, but it'd be a downgrade from my wife's current DD so I couldn't justify it, neat car if you're into RWD, 2JZ's, double wishbones, factory LSD's, and hatchbacks. It's a driver, but the owner was very accommodating, wants it to go to an enthusiast.

Wow I can't believe this is still for sale after being up for 27 days. If I was still in California I'd be tempted also

I can't think of a single reason for not to buy an Ariel Atom, if you can.

This one is a bargain. It only has 1 digit more, wouldn't be so much trouble..

If I had space to keep 4 cars I would have bought it as a more comfortable 'beater' DD than my FR-S just because.

I track my car in the rain sometimes. Open cockpit would not be pleasant.

We don't have a track in Ankara, but I've attended some endurance karting races in rain a few times, and one in heavy snow. They were great fun.

I love rainy track days. It's a lot of fun playing with the car at a much lower limit.

im not surprised. im just noting the shift in excuse that the was most ubiquitous disregarding the miata. it was slow. admittedly many people needed more vehicle and i understand that but around the inception of this car, a lot of posts were spent calling the miata slow. now that it isnt really the case, there isnt really more support for the miata. just different excuses. maybe its a change in the demographic on the forum. maybe its evidence for a never miata crowd. either way i thought it was noteworthy.

id be very surprised if the only reason to buy an 86 over a miata was practicality on this board. definitely a valid reason though. the most valid probably.

Surprise!

I *VERY* specifically DON'T want a ragtop, articulated hardtop, sunroof, moonroof or ANY holes above my head.

The stupid hole for the AM/FM radio gives me the willies!
(edit: heebie jeebies is a racist meme. I'm ashamed for having used it without thinking.)

It's wet, janky and yuk up here all the time and everyone should go somewhere else. There.

I don't like convertibles as well because I don't care for the top down experience and would be totally okay with a normal roof...but if you look around on what other new (low power) "driver's cars" you can buy, the Miata is just objectively better for the money, despite being a convertible.

If this is the last of its kind, one day when the cars are under 10k I would consider welding a partial roll cage and using a bikini top since that makes it just as light and rigid as a real roof, but I can't do that to a new-ish car.

I sold my nearly perfect RX8 with 44k miles for $7500, I'd hunt for another one. The 86 is the closest thing I could find to that car, I loved it and should have kept it.
