I'm planning on doing this when I get home. When I first drove the FRS I thought the clutch was insanely light.... Either I haven't been skipping leg day, or the cars I used to drive had heavy clutches. I'm thinking its the first one XD BUT SERIOUSLY, OEM CLUTCH FEEL IS SO BAD. Thanks for the write up, looks like the mod is an overall success and I will like it before I have even done the mod XD

Thanks! I just did this as well. Taking it off took no more than 10 mins by following your write up. However, putting back the pieces onto the pedal without the spring took forever and ended up losing the E clip. I'll buy another Clip if the pin ends up sliding out.

It will. Not to be an alarmist but it's this kind of scenario which ends in disaster. A set of parts half fall apart and jam. Just put the removable parts on the shelf with the spring. Not necessary to reinstall.

Glad i saw this, just ran out in the dark and did this. Took all of 4 minutes and 2 of that was trying to get the damn clip back in.

To people having issues getting the pin out, after the clip is removed tap the pin a couple times with the needle nose then pull the pin out from the back instead of trying to push it through.

To get the spring perch off easier press in the clutch pedal and just hold the spring perch toward the firewall with pliers or screwdriver and let the pedal come back. Watch out for flying parts.

Can't wait to drive it tomorrow, this clutch has bugged me since day 1.

Had the mod in for 2 days now and the difference is night and day. Would definitely say that I was getting used to the old clutch, but this was such a much bigger improvement. All my shifts are smooth and accurate. This is a top notch mod, the hard part for me was getting the pin out of the clutch. I had to depress the clutch in and use some leverage from one of the metal bars before I could pull the pin out from the other side. Once that was done it was pretty straight forward and easy. Getting the E clip back on is kinda tricky. I put the clip entrance pointing up and used some needle nose pliers to squeeze the pin and clip together.

Took off the spring and left the other hardware in, took me a little longer than 15 minutes, but it was relatively easy. Totally feel the "slop" at the top, but its not too much to deal with. I am still a little worried about it sitting on the clutch spring alone, but the feel of the clutch is a bit more meaty and easy to read.

Don't worry about it.

Clutches have been relying on the master cylinder to hold them up for the better part of a century at this point with no discernible ill effects.

What does it mean to go back to stock by using zip ties? I haven't tackled this yet, but I want to make sure it's completely reversible without looking tacky.
