I have seen plenty of situations where very active members screwed someone (or multiple people) over. Post count does not equal credibility.

Also worth noting is that most of these processes have time limits. In other words, you cannot go back 6 months later and complain that someone failed to deliver an item. I have seem people get burned because they fell for a shady seller's promises of "It will ship next week" and missed their opportunity to file a chargeback.

I don't remember telling him to do it, I told him the only way to get his money back, which we both know IS the only way to get his money back. I can tell you that I've personally never done it, but as I said before, having sold non-tangible items online many times before, that I know how people do get their money back.

Crucify me if you want.

I would be highly surprised if they gave him his money back even after telling them that he did infact send the money as a gift through PayPal. Getting technical, he already committed fraud because he lied about the transaction to PayPal.

I'll be the first to eat my own words if they gave him back his money, if he tells them that he sent it through PayPal as a gift.

Wow.

PM sent.

This is either going to be great or terrible, but definitely nothing in between.

He didn't 'already commit fraud just because he designated it as a gift,' if that's your point. Fraud requires much more than a false statement, including usually intent to deceive, reliance by the party and harm to the other party.
