Vdub's 2017 Subaru BRZ Limited PP Series.Red
2017.02.06 - Test drove a Silver BRZ Premium at the dealer lot for the first time. Loved the feel of it but no one nearby had the options I wanted.
2017.02.13 - Returned and decided to custom order myself exactly what I wanted. 6-speed Manual BRZ Limited w/ Performance Package. Dealer upcharge for PP was only $1060, so I was like, duh. Also added the red floor LEDs and cargo tray. Between the red interior lighting, red engine manifold (new for 2017), red Brembo brake calipers, red interior stitching, and red paint, I felt like this car was begging to be painted red. And so my Series.Red was born. I also checked online new car listings, and the fact that Pure Red was BY FAR the most rare color (WRB and CWP most common) made me want it even more. I was given a rough ETA of "May" for my order to arrive. Every couple of weeks, my sales guy updated me basically "ETA still shows May". I kept hoping it would bump up to April, but no dice. 2017.03 - According to my car's door panel, it was built in March. 2017.05.01 - ETA update from Subaru dealership: May 22nd. Hey, at least it didn't get delayed until June. 2017.05.11 - ETA bumped up to May 15th! Yes! 2017.05.12 - One day after ETA update, the car actually arrived even earlier than the updated ETA! My sales guy sent me a picture of it right after delivery, and I quickly dropped everything to go pick it up: Here is the car waiting for me in the customer pickup area, with only 6 miles on the odometer. Nice to know nobody else test drove it or beat it up before buying it. Still has the protective plastic from the factory (per my request). Took it off once I got it home, which was very fun and satisfying (would recommend). Now I just gotta baby it for the 1,000 mile break-in period, then I can really have some fun. More coming soon... Beautiful I am considering red for probably the first time in my life as option, this looks so darn good with the PP in red. Share some more pictures and discuss your detailing process when unwrapping if you would not mind?

Very nice! I test drove a red one... my second choice if they didn't have the grey
Do anything special for your first wash/wax? Clay bar? Just trying to figure out what kind of products to buy as I'm doing my first major detail next Monday. Exhaust upgrade is on my list too, hard to decide. |

Maybe I should have done something special, but I just ended getting some Meguiar's Ultimate wax for my first go.
That's funny about the Gray, because those were also my top two color choices that I struggled with deciding between. Except I obviously ended up leaning red. |

Today I set my appointment for full tint for this Friday (2017.05.19). Will be going 3M Color Stable with 5% on rear/sides, 50% (per stupid laws) on driver/passenger windows. Probably 20% AS1 strip on windshield too if that's an option. Before and after pictures will follow.

2017.05.01 Magnaflow 15157 cat-back exhaust ordered from amazon.
2017.05.07 Magnaflow exhaust delivered (yes, ordered this before my car was even delivered to my dealership). 2017.05.19 Magnaflow 15157 exhaust installed according to instructions. But I ran into a problem with the resonator being waaaay to close to the frame. The vibrations were enough to make contact and an annoying ticking/clicking noise while driving, especially when turning or accelerating. 2017.05.20 Got the car back up and made some very forceful adjustments to try and get more clearance between the resonator and frame, which was thankfully successful. Here are some before/after pictures comparing stock exhaust with my new Magnaflow exhaust. I also recorded some comparison videos, which I'll add soon too. But it sounds amazing. Very deep and no drone/raspy-ness. Not over-the-top loud to the point of angering neighbors, but definitely much louder than the whisper-quiet stock exhaust. Next will probably be tint before/after photos and/or exhaust sound comparison video.
