V8 plug and play ECU

Needing some help with ECU's for my 1UZ V8 swap

I know that the Motec is an ideal solution but it's just way out of budget

I've been reading on here about various solutions:

- Hydra EMS
- Link
- Haltech
- Emtron KV8

Is there anything other than Motec that has the same function to run everything on the CANBUS? We already have a custom loom made up for the V8 but the issue is getting the car's electronics working obviously

I emailed element tuning about the hydra. It seems like a great setup for me because I’m looking to do a LS3. Although after talking to them, this system will work with the LS1 and LS2, they just have to set the triggers in the EMS for the older style motors. I suggest calling/emailing them.

Thanks

I've contacted Phil through messenger as I've talked to him before about a few bits

Also been reading that Emtron have developed something for the 86 and has a few 2JZ and LS swaps running on their KV8 system

V8 plug and play ECU

The options are detailed in this thread (they do need a bit of an updated but for the most part they’re still pretty accurate).

CAN Bus solution database (what works/what doesn't work)

There is no magical wand on this. If you want your setup to have everything to work like it was from factory, the only option is Motec from Pure Automotive. If you are willing to have a few systems not working, (e. g. traction control, (Motec does it better than the stock control), A/C, ABS, to name a few then you can select from any of the others that have the systems working you absolutely need.

Thanks! I knew this was somewhere but couldn't find it

I wish Motec was within my budget but I can't justify over £4k for it...especially when I'm not bothered about CC, TCS or A/C

Think the Emtron might be a good middle ground for my application

He made my CAN BUS translator for my 3UR swap. Great guy and very responsive. I don't think the 1UZ had CAN BUS so it should be much easier for him to convert analog signals to the FT86 CAN BUS IDs. He has all the required IDs for the BRZ/86 side to make all the following work: power steering, temp gauge, tachometer, and ABS. AC too even if you have the dual climate one. However cruise control and traction control don't work and I don't really care to be honest.

Thanks

Yeah the 1UZ is a fairly simple engine, no CANBUS.

And I'm the same as you, TC and CC aren't something that I need, more interested in having the full cluster working, ABS, power steering etc

What ECU are you running with the 3UR?

Stock so far. Only thing left to figure out are the air injection pumps. I'll be bypassing them soon to make the engine work at 100%.
